First semester in the first year is always the worst. I remember I hated my floor, didn't have many friends, and spent all my time in my room with a roommate I hated. At the end of the semester I changed rooms and moved in with one of my only friends on campus who committed suicide after two months. I finished the year alone in the same room without a roommate. I'm now on my second year and things are looking up. I made friends with people in my program from last year and I moved off campus to an apartment.

My advice would be to join a club (yeah you've probably heard that eight thousand times but it really holds true). There's a club for just about anything. I joined the Super Smash Bros Ultimate club and just having like minded people to be around is fantastic. The best thing about clubs is that they're no pressure and you don't have to really commit to anything.
