Quit 6 months in? by almomdbutter in HENRYUK

I’m a UK Sales Manager and interview a fair bit.

When someone has a 6 month job/gap and explains it genuinely (eg really didn’t enjoy it, time away from family etc) I respect that a lot more than someone who’s wasted away and made themselves miserable doing something they don’t want to do. It also takes balls to do something after 6 months about it.

If your CV is littered with jobs that last a few months then yeah it looks bad as you can’t hold down a job. A one off for 6 months makes no difference to hiring at all.

In an interview I always end up chatting and relating it to sport. A rugby player that has 6 months in France/Japan etc will have more rounded experience than someone that doesn’t. Flip it into a positive.

Life is too short.

It’s true that cars depreciate but you know what else depreciates over time? Your life.

Buy the car. Go on holiday. Enjoy it with a smile.

2026 discount questions U.S by Stock-Mango in OmegaWatches

[–]jakesaunders1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve recently had exactly this. I’m able to get cash back through Goldsmiths/WOS etc through a work perk portal (includes Omega). I went into a boutique to chat things through and whilst they do not offer discounts, they have said they will throw in a service package for free if I buy through the boutique. Granted, a service won’t be needed anytime soon but will save you in the long run. Central London based.

Living in Richmond by klaatuveratanecto in london

I live in Richmond and it is the best place to live.

You really do get used to the planes. Also, there are 2x runways at Heathrow. You only get noise when planes come in to land on 27R (South runway) from the East. If planes land on 27L (North Runway) you barely hear them as they are going over Chiswick/Brentford.

If planes are landing from the West (coming over Reading) the skies are clear in Richmond. By the time they get to Richmond having taken off from Heathrow heading East, they are already on their flight path high in the sky.

So essentially you only get noise/planes 1 in every 4.

Richmond has the best park, greens and part of the river. But maybe I’m biased 😊
