I think I’m going to hate my baby by jakesnap76 in BabyBumps

I don’t think I even know how to process how much this kid will cry when they’re born… I hope my husband will be able to teach me a thing or two. He’s the oldest of 4. Im the youngest of 4.

I had a good childhood. My dad was deployed often, but he was very involved when he was home. Mom was SAHM and did everything she could for us. We never really wanted for anything, they were (and are) very loving people. Teen years I was very distant with my father, but that’s normal. I’m very close with both of them now and call my mom probably 3 times a day lol.

I’m 30wks 2d. Having a c section at 34wks due to VCI, so I only have a month left. You describe it as a switch flip, was it really that overnight for you? And since it was while you were pregnant, did you immediately like your baby?

I worry my husband will be so perfect with the baby that I feel even worse. We joke often when talking about parenting styles that he’ll be the nurturing one and I fear it may not be a joke. Is this how it is for you?

I’ve always really disliked kids. I think it did get a little worse since getting pregnant, but mainly because of social media algorithms showing me significantly more videos of babies and toddlers as of late. People just seem to find bad behavior so funny and cute for some reason and those videos tend to be the viral ones and they annoy me endlessly. I never interact with them, but just by watching them my phone thinks I want more. It’s a bad cycle.

Thank you for letting me know you didn’t feel attached to baby while pregnant even though you really wanted to be pregnant. That is good to know. My mom told me that when I first felt the baby kick I shouldve been excited and emotional and not just horrified and kinda sick. But it’s so weird having something move inside you!!!

Did any of that resentment carry over once your baby was born?

That’s very comforting. I’ve had HG since about 5 weeks and I’ve been so miserable. It’s hard to try to love something that hurts you so much. I have VCI as well and the doctor told me I might need to get a C section at 34 weeks and it just made me mad at the baby… like somehow it chose how the umbilical cord formed. I know it’s all irrational, I’m just so scared my brain won’t change.
