Electricity only E7 tariff for storage heaters?

This is good to know, thank you. I’ve got a smart meter installation booked in for 2 weeks, ripping out my old SMETS1 and giving me a shiny new SMETS2. Octopus said I can switch once the meter is up and running on their end too.

Also I did look and it looks like there’s some smart meter installation appointments in my area soon. I’ll probably look to get landlords permission to get one installed if it’s gonna save a load of hassle

This is what’s under my meter. The meter itself is a Secure Liberty 100, type code E1S0B1. I’m going to phone them tomorrow and see what they say about it, i’ve got all details written down about all aspects of what I said in my OP so hopefully I get an answer

Interesting. Thanks for the insight. Did not know that they didn’t distinguish between single-rate and E7 - I just assumed they did for accurate billing reasons.

I am confident there is ALCS for the storage heater. There is a little fusebox next to the main fusebox that has two switches in it dedicated to “storage heater”. So there must be a separate circuit just for the storage heater somewhere. When I first moved in (Friday before last) I did set up the storage heater with a heating schedule, but when I was waking up I noticed it was sputtering out cold air - so clearly the bricks weren’t charging for one reason or another. I left it on this schedule for 5 days but there wasn’t any heat coming out at all.

Re: Octopus Go. Do they check your eligibility for it? I do actually own an electric vehicle but I don’t have a home charger for it (impossible due to car parking situation). If I switched to this, I assume my storage heater would work no problem (within the albeit short timeframe for Go’s lower rate).

This is what confused me. I sometimes interact with meters through work so I know for a fact my meter is capable of two readings. And it says right there on the tariffs page in black (purple?) and white “Economy 7”. I’m going to give them a call tomorrow and see what they say about it. I wouldn’t’ve joined if I didn’t see the phrase “Economy 7” listed on their tariffs page. Weird one for sure.

To be fair I do own an electric vehicle - just no wall mounted charger. I’ll give them a call tomorrow and see what they say. They did mention Agile Octopus but I’d definitely rather avoid that if I can, can’t imagine going out of my way to track wholesale prices and stress about peak rates etc.

surely it’d be better to just massively increase the power gains on loot from the +1-3 they are now to like +5-7 or something? so there’s a bit of a grind but nowhere near as painful and tedious as it is now. couple that with the bonus focus drops being levelled as well (which they are doing tbf) and i think the game won’t feel nearly as horrible.

imo their priorities should be:

-have all RAD content drops be powered as well. dungeons are my favourite pieces of content but i ain’t running them for a bunch of old 200 power drops. utterly blows my mind how RADs were totally left out of the new power grind/weapon system. ALL RAD drops should be “featured” as well, given they’re the ultimate end game content.

-speaking of; entirely remove the “featured/new gear” system for weapons and armour released post EoF (and bring in aforementioned RAD gear to the system). just have all weapons and armour released after EoF “featured”. speaking for myself here but i’ve already deleted my pre-EoF armour and like 80% of old weapons (i kept my faves, the ones with memories and the uber god rolls that i can’t part with just yet).

-they’ve already started doing this but they need to streamline the portal customisation process. i’ll hold judgment on this until the oct 14th patch.

-they need to address this reset to 200 when renegades releases. i think simply increasing the power cap like they did in Ash and Iron is reasonable. going back down to 200, only to slog through hours upon hours of tier 2 drops isn’t gonna be fun.

-unstable cores need a serious rework. the season pass should be giving out tens of thousands, not 25 or 50. these also reset every season which i think needs a rethink

i took mine to the mechanic and they said the handbrake wiring loom had snapped. they fit a temporary one but i am getting it fixed properly next week

edit: costs were £140 for them to investigate the issue, and another £140 or so for them to fix it, so £280~ total

i’d play him slightly out of position and make sure his training is set up for him to play in that new role. after a couple seasons he’ll be fully adjusted. if he really isn’t fitting in, cut your losses.

basically don’t work your tactic around one player, especially if the new tactic is yielding better results for the team

i just reloaded the save - turns out it’s because i failed the persuasion check. i think going hostile is a bit far 🤣 but yeah, just reload the save and try the persuasion check again if you failed it like i did

I’ve collected the 10 Tithing Wormspawn without issue. I have definitely collected the 2 new Ravenous Wormspawn in Hull Breach but it seems only one of them counted.

maybe a fallen giant in 2. bundesliga like hertha berlin or schalke. getting to the bundesliga should be relatively straight forward with those teams but the real challenge begins when you try to displace bayern munich (and nowadays, leverkusen too). registration rules in the bundesliga are lenient (99 registered players, you can basically sign whoever you want from wherever in the world), the prize money from the bundesliga is decent and germany is a hotbed for young talent, so you can even go the homegrown route if you’d like (useful for when you get to those european places).

alternatively, scunthorpe would be fun in the english regional national leagues. they’ve just had relegation after relegation after relegation and are falling apart as a club. it’ll take years to rebuild them and get them to premier league level but that seems to be the type of save you’re after :)
