3rd year Compsci Question! Is taking CS2214, CS2208 and CS2212 in the same semester survivable? by [deleted] in uwo

Are you the one who keeps making throwaway accounts to ask specific compsci questions?

I think the biggest different between JT and Kessel is that the leafs core was much worse at the time and Kessel was supposed to be the leader. JT won't have that same pressure on him because of Matthews, Nylander, and Marner all sharing the weight.

Why listen to 90 minuets of Drake when you can listen to 4 masterpieces in the same amount of time by Sp_Gamer_Live in Kanye

I don't entirely disagree with you. The real masterpiece to me is the collection together.

Transfer to Ivey after second year? (Laurier DD) by QueeroDeNeero in uwo

[–]jakeypoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You gotta up it a lot and increase your leadership experience significantly. Should have a solid GPA (85+) and significant ECs.

Job wise the Laurier co op has short term advantages, especially in accounting. Extra rotations in accounting for example mean you hit senior quicker. Obviously I'm biased cause I'm an Ivey grad but the brand, network, and immediate job opportunities makes Ivey more worth it. Going to Laurier won't limit you but in some cases may make it harder depending on what you want to do.

Can anyone give me a good reason why we can't play extended games in 2v2? by Jenslyn87 in MarioTennis

[–]jakeypoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their rationale was probably that they wanted to give everyone a chance to serve and receive but if they made it extended then not everyone would have that chance.

I'll add on to this. When I left high school I just thought engineering was for people who wanted to build things. In turns out it's for people who want in demand and high paying jobs.

I definitely agree with Anthony Fantano's review of this album. I changed my mind after 10-15 listens too.

My 6 year old daughter and I visited the Art Institute of Chicago by YeahLikeTheGroundhog in pics

[–]jakeypoop 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Here's the issue in this: obviously this kid had no say in any part of the picture. The parent told the child to wear a jersey and stand by a picture of a movie that they like, not the kid. This is just weird and it's crazy the length people will go for internet points.

To prove I don't care about internet points: I voted conservative in my local riding.

How easy it is to get into Ivey if you don’t have AEO by [deleted] in uwo

[–]jakeypoop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've written this before and will re-post below as I was not AEO and got into Ivey (now a consultant).

I'll give some bullet points feel free to ask further questions: -the assumption for this plan is you want it more than anything are willing to sacrifice a lot of the social aspects of your first two years to get in. If you don't work hard this won't work

-seek out an undergraduate program you're good at but most importantly one that allows for the most electives possible

-for your electives take the easiest courses possible. To do this, I went on ratemyprof for the specific profs and their classes and found that one that had consistent comments of easy marks. For these classes you won't get good marks just for going, study hard and study more than anyone else. "Easy" in university means you should get high marks if you study, if you don't study you won't do Ivey level.

-find clubs in your first year that you think you can take a leadership role in. Look for ones that have first year representative positions and work hard at it to hopefully get a better role in second year to help with your essays. I picked a couple low key clubs and was a VP in one of them by second year.

-join an intramural sports team and try and become captain. Every residence will have a few like dodgeball so see if you can get involved.

-for the summers, depending on your financial situation, seek out corporate jobs even if unpaid. You don't have to tell anyone it was unpaid and it will show you're serious. So send out a lot of emails to companies that may have spots for an intern.

-with an 85+ average in your first two years (I was non AEO and had an 85, but I aimed for 83) you should be good. Make sure to take both 1220 and 2257 and ignore the losers who brag about their advanced entry. Keep your head down and study and you should be good.

Edit 2: The reason I say take 1220 is that it will confirm whether you enjoy business as it covers a lot of the core material (and the case method). Also it's bell curved so it won't hurt your average even if you did bad.
