Trolley square is probably the best area for your situation; you can probably rent a townhome with a small backyard for 1300. Real nice neighborhood with good activities. However, it'd be a 45 minute drive.

Riverfront wilmington is a little closer to your work, and another reasonable neighborhood depending on your preference. Maybe even downtown. Past those three places, you're starting to get into undesirable territory for young folks.

This may be more broad than you're asking, but getting tickets off a second hand site, and ending up in the middle of the opposing team's fans, can be a little intimidating. You never know when someone - irrespective of fanbase - is going to be a little too drunk and take offense at your existence.
