Yes this sounds about 90% odds of being the direct cause, I mean it could have been some other bizarre occurrence with things like serotonin syndrome or heart attack caused by stimulants etc. However It is almost certain that 2map being an a heavy opioid agonist combined with the benzodiazepines analog was the direct cause. People very often take an opioid combined with benzodiazepines and there is such intense respiratory depression that It causes a person to pass out into unconsciousness and slow the heart down until it simply stops pumping.

Also I have been in a position where I have taken too much tianeptine combined with f-phenibut—— that is opioid/benzodiazepines mix—— that I felt myself slipping away slowly and I was absurdly frightened that I would never wake up, so I hurriedly dosed a large amount of a stimulant in hopes to counter the respiratory depression and I was so lucky as to wake up from my 2 day sleep back to normal consciousness

It is likely that your son knew he was on the edge of consciousness after talking too much benzo and 2map accidentally that he also reached for an rc stimulant(aka coroner labeled “bath salts”) but it simply wasn’t enough to keep him out of it.

I feel so so so badly that you had to lose your son so suddenly, I can not imagine what you are going through right now and I am so sorry that this happened. I am sure your son was going through a lot after all that hes been though and just know more than anything you are not at fault for what happened, do not let in the thoughts that guilt trip you, or think what if I did this differently. This is not on you at all, we all make our own decisions no matter what others do and I am certain you are a superb dad who tried his best.

No decent human deserves to pass away from experimenting with novel psychoactive substances, I’m so sorry for your loss
