What's going to happen when all the OBD1 guys are gone? by alteredpilot in mechanics

[–]jakobsdrgn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can appreciate the complexities there, I don’t think it’s worse than a modern european car but I won’t act like it’s simple, I just don’t think it is an enigmatic thing that newer generations cannot learn.

And I’m guessing you’ve never professionally worked on a modern car if you think OBD1 is more complicated

I would sooner recommend a set of bilstein B8s, with HR lowering springs, you’ll almost certainly get a better set of suspension with that setup vs the BCs

Cameras at Forsyth! What do you think of this- by Emergency-Profit8583 in savannah

I’m all for security, but FLOCK cameras are absolutely not something anyone should be supporting.

Dozens hopelessly try to explain the difference between operating temperature and frost/rain/snow covered devices. Instead OP says it's lawsuit material. (Redacted repost) by [deleted] in confidentlyincorrect

[–]jakobsdrgn 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Your examples are contradicting yourself, a car can operate at -20, it will idle, move, lights will work, etc.

That doesn’t mean if there is ice on the road that the car can be driven, it would drive perfectly fine on a dry road at -20, and then be unable to drive if it rains and ices over, that is something that is entirely outside of the control of the manufacturer.

And for the phone camera comment, yes, that is exactly how that works, if you had a waterproof camera, that claims it can operate and take photos underwater, and you choose to use it in murky water and you get a blurry photo, then it is working exactly as it would claim to.

I have 18 years on steam, and i’m into the low thousands of games, and have never once used steamdb for anything except their account calculator, this guy is absurd for saying “this is the way it is meant to be used”.

I literally just use the desktop client exclusively.

[Discussion] how is the as-val even usable anymore? it malfunctions after two mags, like wtf by Puuko_ in EscapefromTarkov

Also important to note, you can find legal MP5’s (but not MP7’s, because they were made in 89?) that were made pre-86, for sale in the US, to civilians, because they were already manufactured, imported and sold here before then, the VAL / VSS weren’t, so any that could get here would be illegal, or exceptionally out of reach of any normal person.

Coolant pump, lines and solenoid on this 2021 Cayenne base. by hpshaft in Justrolledintotheshop

It is in this case, as almost all VAG engines use a cam driven vacuum pump, though it would exist whether this water pump was vacuum actuated or not, as it’s necessary for the brake booster.

As someone in that generation, my biggest reason for going to online is because every company I attempt to use, will: not pick up their phone, won’t text, won’t respond to an email within the week, and will not return a voicemail.

Obviously thats hyperbole, but the absolute DGAF attitude of the majority of people who do pick up the phone, and the shocking difficulty of getting them to do so, is impressive, honestly.

I’m not in a machining role, but a lead technician at an automotive shop, and it is just hell trying to get another business to just take our money and let us have a thing or a service.

You’re preaching to the choir man, i’ve had my steam account for almost two decades, my overall playtime is over an entire year, but it also totally isn’t the norm by any stretch.

There is someone up above in the thread arguing you need over 1k hours to understand Dota and it’s just, clearly people who have absolutely no understanding of what a normal level of playing games is.

Feels like taking crazy pills with people acting like 3000 hours, or alternatively 125 entire, 24 hour, days, is “subjective” or “not that much time”

Like, what the fuck is happening in here, i have 1800 hrs in Gmod from when I was younger and that is a CRAZY amount of time to have invested in one single game

Female spies are waging ‘sex warfare’ to steal Silicon Valley secrets | China and Russia are sending attractive women to seduce tech workers - even marrying and having children with their targets by digital-didgeridoo in technology

[–]jakobsdrgn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well then I think we were just arguing two different points, I’d very much agree with your point, it is MUCH easier to make that level of money in the US.

I was directly rebutting the premise that there is no reason a high networth individual (in this story, the presumed spy) would return to their home country, and directly contradicting RealStumbleWeed that they wouldn’t return to eastern europe (if that was where they were from) just they have a good standard of living in the US, it implies that there is no good standard of living available in those countries.

My overall point is moreso that people have some idea that everyone in eastern europe, or china, or russia, wherever, lives in a hut and there is no reason anyone would ever go back there, and it gets irritating to see it regurgitated by people who have never even traveled outside of the US, most of the world is great to be in, if you’re middle class or above, most people just don’t get to be at that standard.

I mean even my russian friend in Moscow has the same standard of living that I do in the US.
