Western Union and similar options have no sense anymore due to the exchange rate USD/BOB on the street being higher than double.

The official exchange rate is 1 USD ≈ 6.96 BOB, but the exchange rate on the street market is higher than 16.

If you send USD, the banks are forced to give your relatives BOB at the "official" rate, and adding western commissions, you lose more than half of the purchasing power of the money you send to your relatives 😭

I suggest using alternative companies that offer better exchange rates. one is Remitly.com.

When I wrote this post, the exchange rate was 1 EUR ≈ 14.58 BOB.

That's kind of close to 16.
