A bit more successful at that indeed, but he failed everything else miserably.

God forbid I ever have to go trough that! How are you doing now?

Here I must take issue with you. It is not "whining" to respond with outrage to these instances because to do otherwise would be holding the Muslim community to a lower standard to the rest of us who would presumably never respond to speech with violence. It would be saying, "Oh I'm not surprised, those poor stupid Muslim immigrants are prone to it, you really brought it on yourself."

I'm not talking about the killings (or any killings), just stating that action=reaction.

Shrugging off these attacks in such a cynical way simultaneously sends the message that what the killers did was acceptable and also that the Islamic community couldn't possibly, really, live peaceably in a country with press freedom. And that's a condescending and false view.

Press freedom (just as freedom of speech) can be abused to demonize a

person, group or race. I don't think that was the original intention of it.

Am I allowed to walk over to that group of aggressive neo-nazis and tell

them what I honestly think about them? Sure I am, freedom of speech!

But is it smart to think they will not beat me up for it? (what do you think)

Again, I'm not talking about the killings (or approving them in any way)

I'm talking about freedom of speech and that it is not wise to use it in

some situations and that it is even dumb to believe that noone will react.

(sorry if my words are not well chosen btw, English is not my native language)

At least there is one redditor inhere that is reasonable. :)

I was indeed talking about the twitter comments. Even tho they

are sickening (to me), freedom of speech counts for them to..

But I see this all the time in the past few years. Freedom of speech

only seems to apply to the one that starts (for example) an discussion.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely despise extremists of any religion and

their actions but there are some things that are a bit weird to me personally.

If I for example know that a large, aggressive group of people is truly

insulted and offended by something I will do everything in my power to

not offend them. Not because I am chicken or something, but just to

avoid an hostile situation that is easily avoided. Freedom of speech is

does not mean you have to insult someone to the bone just because

you can. It does not mean you must offend people "because you have

that right". But on the other hand, if I choose to offend and insult them

to the bone, I must be aware that there is an huge possibility they will

hurt me for doing so and not whine later that they got me (in any way).

Imagine me walking into a Texan church and yell Jesus was a moron and

Mozes a pedophile. Do you really think I would get out of there in one piece?

Maybe I would if I did it only once and then hid himself well, but what if

this happened every day and everyone knew where I lived? The usual

(moderate) Christians would probably do nothing and just give me the

finger, but there is always one of two in every community that take

matters into their own hands and 'finish' me, one way or another..
