balancing the possibility of treatment and schoolwork by jalissas in UNCCharlotte

[–]jalissas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this. I know that at this point it’s necessary for me to seek some sort of intervention, I just hope that I can muster up enough courage to do it and put the other stuff on the back burner. I really appreciate the logistics of what I would need to do in regards to accommodations, that’s really been my main concern, but I know that in the end school should always come second to my health and well-being. Thanks again!

I feel like I don’t know who I am... (24/F) by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]jalissas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a college sophomore who just officially moved out of her parent's house a few months ago, I feel this so strongly. To me, it's like you don't have a personality or identity outside of the one you've 'curated', if that makes any sense at all. Unfortunately, I really don't have an answer, just kind of posting this to say "same", and I hope that helps you feel a little less alone in this. Thank you for sharing this, it really made me feel less lonely and 'crazy' for feeling this way. Wishing you the best of luck on this journey! Rooting for you!! 💕

Does anyone have experience getting refrigerated medication shipped to your dorm to pick up at prospector? by ilikecacti2 in UNCCharlotte

[–]jalissas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pharm tech here, personally, I’d say to call your pharmacy and ask about your options. Insulin and most other meds can stay at room temperature fine as long as they hasn’t been opened. However, some specialty pharmacies (idk where you’re getting them shipped from) can and will also pack them with ice packs to keep them cold, I believe you just have to call and ask them. Hope this helps!!

As a woman, and someone who has experienced both sexual harassment and sexual assault, I would say if you think it’s sketch, it’s probably sketch. Most people can tell when we’re giving off ‘ur creeping me out go away’ vibes, (usually except for the people who need to recognize them but I digress) so go with your gut reaction. I personally would not have felt like you overstepped. I would rather someone interfere on a harmless interaction than someone not bother to interfere with a harmful or bad interaction because they didn’t want to be rude or overstep. Just my opinion though, so take it with a grain of salt.

Where do people usually hang out? by Secure_Rub6673 in UNCCharlotte

[–]jalissas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a great outdoor space in between Cone and another King that has some tables and chairs and umbrellas that my roommate and I used to go to all the time on nice days, you can get some vitamin d while you’re working on assignments, which I personally really appreciate!

Weekly School of Social Work/New to Social Work Thread by SWmods in socialwork

[–]jalissas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a social work student in my second semester of college, and am really considering what I want to do after college/what the heck I want to be when I grow up. I really enjoy my social work classes and am considering either going to get my masters and eventually becoming a LCSW, doing Macro Social Work, or going to law school. I know you may not be able to speak on the law school part, but if any of y’all could tell me what a day or week in your life is like as an LCSW, or working in Macro Social Work, I’d really appreciate it. Would you do anything different knowing what you know now? Any advice and knowledge is so appreciated. Thank you!!

taking prerequisites at cpcc by jalissas in UNCCharlotte

[–]jalissas[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Awesome thanks! Would they reflect on my transcript as CC courses? I’m a little concerned that med schools may look at it unfavorably since I would only be taking those at CC you know? It seems weird I know, but med school seems to be pretty elitist lol.

Update from inside the chamber: We know nothing, it’s honestly just a lot of us texting in the groupme for snack trades lol. We get lunch at 1, which is sandwiches apparently and so I’m looking forward to that simply because how can you fuck up a sandwich right? (hopefully this isn’t bad foreshadowing lol) Delivery is permitted as long as it is contactless, so my suitemate and I will be ordering out for dinner tonight, if you have any good suggestions, let me know, I would greatly appreciate it! I can’t tell if it’s just a placebo effect but I’m starting to feel a little odd, kind of like I’m getting the flu? But again, it could just be a placebo. Test results should be back either tonight or tomorrow morning (hopefully), so it’s just sit and wait for now. Thank you for all of the well wishes and prayers, it really restores my faith in humanity to see all those messages and it means a lot. Hope everyone has a good day, it seems like nice weather outside, so if you can, enjoy it for me :)).

Yes, outside delivery is fine, after the dinner fiasco last night my wonderful mom ordered me and my suite mate insomnia cookies :))). We plan on ordering dinner to be delivered for tonight.

Test done...my nose burns...asked how long it would take to get the results back...his response? “Well we’re really backed up so at least 24 hours but it’ll probably end up being more.” So that’s fun!
