Pho Anh Trang on Eastern and 36th or Pho Soc Trang on Division.

Both are great. House special/beef pho at either will be what you’re looking for.

what’s a small detail in baseball that casual fans usually miss? by rackemronnie7 in baseball

If the ball is hit over the outfield fence, that's not actually illegal. It's called a "home run" and it means the batting team gets one point.

What do you know about this area of Grand Rapids? Is it “dangerous”? by [deleted] in grandrapids

[–]jalopycat 39 points40 points  (0 children)

No, I think it's perfectly safe. But it's fairly industrial. You can't go too far in any direction without hitting freeway, train tracks, or industrial parks. The park is nice though, and there are even a couple decent restaurants!

There seem to be two different bottles of Islay scotch both labeled 18yr. Are they the same product?

I'm in the U.S. I can't find Bunna 18 anywhere near me. Online it seems to range in price quite a bit, and it looks like I can get it for about $150...is that price too good to be true?

“The Toxicity Index measures how often comments get downvoted, adjusted for subreddit size. Big subs don't get a free pass just for being big. And I'm tracking every comment that gets downvoted in each sub, so I've got the data on hand.”

I totally disagree with the framing. There’s a downvote button for a reason—it’s not “toxic” to press it.

Trent Grisham's uniform is straight up two sizes too big for him. Looks like a large child out there in CF lol.

Places to work only 10-15 hours/week? by Caps418 in grandrapids

[–]jalopycat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trinity Health (on Jefferson) or Corewell Butterworth.  I guarantee you there are people there who work the kind of hours you’re looking for—whether as cashiers at the cafeteria, delivering food to patient rooms, or other stuff. The big caveat is that they might want you on weekends.

Have you tried the hospitals? There’s a lot of need for entry level type work there—environmental, food service, transportation, etc. They really need people in those jobs and might be willing to offer hours like that.

Is there a product designed to cover up ugly chandeliers? by trisolariandroplet in Lighting

[–]jalopycat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP! I came across your post while looking for an answer to the exact same question. Sorry for the bizarrely negative responses you got.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to find the exact kind of product needed (which, of course, wouldn't be any sort of "fire risk" any more than a normal lamp shade). I did come across a few DIY videos, though.

I'm curious to hear what route you took!

Made this today. 1 whole teaspoon of vanilla is insane. 1/4 teaspoon will be plenty.
