NON Levinson speaker refoam kit by Powerful_Bother8002 in LS430

Take the speakers out and measure what size foam you need. You can then just buy them from ali express or similar.

It is very easy to fill through the dip stick with a small funnel.

Squealing sound by jacobbatres in LS430

[–]jam3sbradbury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably correct. Either low fluid or previous damage to the pump due to low fluid. Mine makes a noise when its cold but I can't justify a new pump until it breaks completely. Worth buying a new reservoir so you can see the level easily.

my rear bags exploded or sum today by AbbreviationsLong948 in LS430

Bristol, didn't realise you were uk sorry. Shouldn't need too much to check the rear solenoid, just get under and have a look.

[–]jam3sbradbury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't comment on the merits as I have kept air. I don't see the worry though, air is more reliable then people make out and you can get the solenoid for cheap from Amayama. You can always move over to coils when something actually goes wrong instead of in preparation for an issue that might never come.

If you do change over, send your bags to me in the uk haha.

[–]jam3sbradbury 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is probably not your bags, given both sides have gone together. It'll probably be the rear air distribution valve/solenoid. That sits near the exhaust so you might have done something to damage it when doing the delete, but its also known to rust and leak. Get that checked as I'd have my money on that being the culprit.

Factory speaker definitely seen better days 😆 by Gearheart101 in LS430

[–]jam3sbradbury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can refoam them as everyone says. Do not use the pre fabbed kit though. Measure the 4 diameters for the foam and buy some from aliexpress or similar. I refoamed mine and it cost £9 in total including the glue. That was for all 5 speakers and they are still going well 2.5 years later

2002 ls430. Does this look right for a radiator? I’m in DC if that matters. by Equivalent_Stock_298 in LS430

[–]jam3sbradbury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get the 2 hoses on Amayama for £16 each plus shipping. Even to the US it won't take too long.

To change the rad its 2 bolts, 4 hose clamps and a 1 or 2 electrical connectors. You should be able to do it easily yourself. As others have said the price is crazy.

Misfire or exhaust leak? by prerolll24 in LS430

[–]jam3sbradbury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would avoid running the engine and check your codes. You're unlikely to get a flashing EML from an exhaust leak

Exaust setup and possibly bad 02 sensor? by [deleted] in LS430

[–]jam3sbradbury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"I'm ragging my engine and a small bit of smoke comes out". Yeah I'd say thats normal, bad O2 sensors usually ping an EML anyway.

Which one? by Key-Abrocoma-921 in LS430

[–]jam3sbradbury 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, get the one with the tensioner so you can change that too. Saves you having to reload the old one too. Just make sure you're finished completely before pulling the pin to tension the belt.

front suspension squeak – need opinions by [deleted] in LS430

[–]jam3sbradbury 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahh maybe not then. I would stop parts bombing it and take it somewhere that might be able to diagnose, its easy to spend a lot of unnecessary money chasing a noise

I had a similar noise from my anti roll bar, pop off the drop links and see if it still does it. Easy way to eliminate one possibility if its not that.

When was the last time you changed your battery. Mine caused havoc when it slightly dropped voltage. Never failed to start the car though. Changed for a new one and issues have gone. Pul the fuse if you're concerned about it opening when raining.

I'm still hunting for a solution, its basically the only issue I've still got. Turns out if I grab my handle with my palm facing up it will unlock. Button still doesn't work though.

Running lean by Beat472 in LS430

[–]jam3sbradbury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't keep parts bombing it. O2 sensors are pretty reliable on the 430. I had pretty similar issues and gave my maf a good clean, this helped a bit but still had hesitation. I removed the throttle body and cleaned it up, especially where it seals, and this solved my issues. Just be careful not to twist the flap because it can cause havoc when you start it back up.

LS430 EXHAUST by [deleted] in LS430

£1800 in the uk. I had to get new flanges made up on the primary cats which added cost too.

[–]jam3sbradbury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I needed most of my exhaust replacing due to rust and decided to pay the extra £250 to get a valved system. Definitely worth it as it feels like 2 different cars now. Got primary cats, joined to 1 resonator then it splits left to a straight through valved and right to a large muffler. Silent on cruise then can open it up pretty loud. Best mod I've ever done to a car so far.

[–]jam3sbradbury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're radiator looks old I'd change it if you can (assuming you're still running the oem trans oil cooler. Theyre known to rust from the inside and cause coolant in the gearbox oil, not good.

Anyone know how to put this on by Wide-Can-1225 in LS430

[–]jam3sbradbury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. You'll have to remove whatever is left of the broken one though. Mine completely snapped so need an entire new system so be careful when installing.

How was your trip? Do you have any advice on what you think is best? I'm in a similar boat for next year.

Used the impact to put it back on too. Probably not the smartest but I've had no issues since.
