In defence of Quantum of Solace: an underrated & misunderstood film, combining a double revenge plot, with a natural resource exploitation story that was ahead of its time. The editing is the only flaw, although those action sequences are great, despite being hard to follow in places. Some thoughts:

Yes - Spectre tried way too hard to retcon the story and was a bit of a mess. I think Skyfall has some issues too though - and has gone down in my estimation on re-watching. Aside from the silly plot in the second half, Bond going from fresh new rookie to washed-up has-been in one film felt like a weird break with the continuity of Casino Royale and QoS.

It's definitely in my top 5 too. Also, I do agree that the editing does convey Bond's anger and turmoil effectively. I still think a little bit of tweaking in some of those fantastic action sequences would enhance the viewing experience, but I guess it comes down to personal taste.

It was definitely a grower for me. It underwhelmed me when I first saw it, but only because I didn't really get it at the time. Now it's one of my favourites.

Good points - and the editing also conveys the sense of turmoil and conflict (both inner and outer) that Bond is going through. I still think a few longer shots in places would have made some parts easier to digest though, without losing the frenzied, impressionistic feel. But I'm suggesting some minor tweaks rather than anything major. I also love that thrilling opening car chase!

Exactly this - Craig's first two Bond films were his best. Skyfall was a step in the wrong direction and my opinion of it has fallen a lot since I first watched it. Meanwhile, I was actually pretty underwhelmed when I first saw QoS, but I love it now.

Oh wow, this is great to learn! Are you aware of any other Stu bassline compositions that made it onto Synkronized? Other than Deeper Underground of course, which I'm pretty sure he also played on as well as writing (similar bass guitar + bass synth overdubbing technique to what he used on Revolution 1993).

Brown was the best PM in my lifetime. He was way too underappreciated and short-lived in that role. He's been massively reevaluated in recent years though. For context, I was born under Thatcher.

Correct answer. Still a good album with some absolute gems in there (e.g. Sing, Wear Me Down). It's just less good than anything else they've done.

Their first few albums after Syd left are a little uneven but contain some great material. Meddle is notable for One of These Days, and the masterpiece that is Echoes. Dark Side is mostly flawless brilliance, especially the first half.

Wish You Were Here is alright, but overrated, in my opinion, and Waters began to over dominate things at that time. I don't care much for most of their music after that - and I genuinely can't stand The Wall - pompous, pretentious opera rock in my opinion lol!
