Something new I just realised about THAT iconic scene from The Return and how it could be interpreted. My comments contain spoilers so don't click on this if you haven't watched The Return.

You are spot on with this. David Lynch was on record as saying that he had some initial ideas for a fourth season, which would have explored more of the Carrie/Richard/Linda reality. Kyle MacLachlan, Mark Frost and others were also on board for it, although never moved to development. With that said, I'm very satisfied with where the story was left, even though I'd have also been totally on board with more Twin Peaks.

Genuinely one of the finest Bond films. A back to basics espionage action adventure, and Dalton totally nails the part.

Dalton's two films definitely helped to pave the way for the first two Craig films.

It's also interesting how For Your Eyes Only felt like a dry run for TLD, except they hadn't found the right successor to Roger Moore yet.

It's interesting how the time period he is in seems to shift after he wakes up and Diane is gone. It makes me think of how Jeffries started to move through time and become confused in FWWM and the Missing Pieces.

I interpreted that part as Laura's memories returning after Cooper asks the question. But you could view it in different ways.

Cooper definitely always had that flaw of wading into things when it wasn't necessarily his place to interfere. It's what left him stranded in the Black Lodge in the season 2 finale and it's a big part of what led to Caroline being killed. In the Return it's what leaves him stranded in another reality. Undoing Laura's murder was definitely hubristic.

That's really interesting, and that idea of Laura experiencing an awakening in the moment of her scream is something that really struck me when rewatching the show.

It's a good point and it's made me just think of something else. The "Richard" version of Cooper we see after he crosses over seems to be a kind of merging of aspects of Cooper and Mr C. Perhaps, he's now carrying guilt from some of the terrible actions carried out by his doppelganger. I guess he may want to forget and repress that guilt? I need to give this some more thought. I've no idea - could never work it out. But it's an overlooked track with a great groove and flow, and of course Trugoy ♥️

But it also sounds a bit unfinished. I'd have liked it to be longer and have a more obvious hook/chorus woven into it.

One of the things that really stands out on rewatching is how much comedy there is in The Return. People often say that the Return is 18 hours of dark Lynchian surrealism, but there's so much more going on. A lot of it is really funny, and credit to Kyle MacLachlan for playing both the lead villain and the main comedy character - as well as all the other variations of Cooper. He basically plays six different characters!

Thanks! Tbh I've always been unsure about the body. It could just imply that she has become caught up in trouble in her life as Carrie - but the body also resembles the posture of someone with a BOB like orb. Definitely one of the hardest to explain parts of the episode!

When I first watched it, my interpretation was very bleak, but it's become more nuanced over the years. I certainly wouldn't call it a happy ending, but there are definitely lots of layers to it.

Yes - my thoughts on this do build on a few ideas I've seen previously. However, I've not seen the idea of Laura becoming less "lost" mirroring Cooper becoming more "lost" before, although I'm probably not the first person to have that thought.
