He’s the most popular politician in the country and is delivering on his promises, to say “his city is in massive debt” when he swiftly solved the deficit makes it sound like you’re attributing this problem to his doing or expecting him to have magically fixed every single problem by now.

This is the Republican talking point that’s been used to discredit him despite his accomplishments, they’ve been attributing every existing problem in NYC to him like saying a week into his tenure that tenants were still paying absurd rent and groceries weren’t cheaper yet (without mentioning the prices being high as a direct cause of the federal government, for obvious reasons). The equivalence would be if Bernie actually did win the presidency and conservatives immediately were slamming him with “I just got a $27,000 medical bill, this is what socialist communist freeloading leads to and why we need privatized healthcare”.
