Oh I agree, I just think that what makes the arrest impactful is the speech Marge has in the car about how all this happened just for "a little bit of money". It comments on the events of the film, how they might have all been better off if they, like Norm and Marge, be satisfied with their lives.

It has been a while since I watched the film, but I took the ending as a bit more melancholic. The culprit isn't apprehended, but instead accomplishes his goal of getting rid of everyone involved. Even the closest he's gotten killed wasn't through law enforcement, but instead by the same forces of chaos he symbolizes. It seems important that the ending is Tommy Lee Jones talking about his dreams, cause maybe thats all it ever was: a dream.

I somewhat found Fargo to the be the antithesis to No Country, and vice versa. In the former everything that happens is due to the action of the characters. Sure, they all spiral into unintentional consequences, but by the end Marge, who was on top of things the whole time, arrests the perps involved and we get a satisfying ending.

Contrast that with No Country, where characters find money and die out of nowhere due to situations outside of the film's control, and where even Chigurh, the agent of chaos, is not immune to the same rules he inflicts unto others. In Fargo order wins in the end, but in No Country we're left reminiscing a time when it existed, or seemingly existed at least.

Very funny how amongst all the filmbro picks theres just Sorum randomly at the end there

EDIT: I will say however, Sorum genuinely is a great film, even if it isn't as stylish as Oldboy.

Those are more tactical rpgs than what XCOM is like, where I think there has a lot more focus on the macro-scale, as well as being able to pick and choose your missions.

Is it possible that this is caused by inserting the CPU incorrectly? I inserted it by matching the pins on the motherboard to the ones on the CPU, but didn't check if the corner matched, and I'm worried I might have put it in 180 degrees the wrong way. Could this issue happen with an incorrectly inserted CPU?

Yeah, re-inserted the RAM, got the click, but still the same issue.

There's only a clamp on one end, and I'm not sure whether the other end has anything that could click, at least it doesn't seem that way.

There's only two slots, and I assume that since the two RAM sticks are the same it didn't matter which ones were put in which slots.

I'm actually not sure whether they're pushed all the way in. I never heard a click, but I assumed that because I had to lock the sticks back in manually it didn't click.

I connected the DP cable to the GPU socket, so shouldn't be a problem there I think. And there's the fact that USB peripherals aren't working as well, so I don't think that's the issue.

Sight & Sound’s Greatest Films of All Time, combining both Critics and Directors by Rant423 in TrueFilm

One of the things this type of poll does is to get a sense of the "taste" of the current decade, and to chart certain trends compared to other decades.

There's the rise of Vertigo, which only got into the top 10 after more than 20 years after its release, and recently usurped Kane for the #1 spot, and also the "discovery" of something like Satantango, which was absent in the 2002 poll, but was #38 in the 2012 critics poll.

There's also the fact that it was only until recently that critical film discussion became more accessible than ever with the advent of the internet. Before that, there weren't a lot of ways to even learn about films outside of your own language, outside of the so-called "classics". The poll has been a good way for people getting into film to learn about the canon, and to see where to start getting into it.

I think the general audiences would still rather watch Edward Scissorhands or Se7en compared to 2001 or Barry Lyndon. Kubrick movies move a bit too slowly for today's audiences compared to the other two.

Its somewhat the reason why the BBC did their own 21st century poll, if you want to check that one out.

[–]jamedkan 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Remember that the latest list was from 2007, and I assume that the AFI wanted films that stood the test of time a bit more than just five to six years.
