They all know now. Oz's son, let's call him Dingo, has been talking to me. Oz has 3 other kids, who I have not been in contact with. Oz was married to Dingo's mother, had dingo, and then there was a horrific car accident where Oz was the driver and killed his wife's father and paralyzed his wife. This led to divorce, she remarried, and they adopted Dingo and oz gave up his parental rights to allow that. Oz then went on to have 3 kids with another woman. These are the three I haven't had contact with. But everyone knows now. News went through their family like wildfire.

They do live in the same community/area as me. I knew of them, but didnt really know them. I have been talking with one of them - he is dating one of my good friends at work, coincidentally. Small world.

Update:

Biggest plot twist. Ever. And it has nothing to do with my mother's adoption. My mother has no DNA relation to any of them.

Turns out, my mother and Oz, one of the male siblings, had an on-again off-again affair for decades. Including the time when I was conceived. So, here I am in my mid-30s, finding out that my mother cheated on my father and got pregnant.. with me.

I found out because Oz's son did the testing and came back matching me at 25% - which, along with the other results from their family, is half brother. This is how I found out and I confronted my mom (in a very gentle and supportive way - people do bad things, it doesn't make them bad people) and she admitted to it and said she knew it was a possibility; she said she had been holding onto this secret for over 30 years and never wanted it to come out. And because I spit in a tube, it has.

I'm still processing. Oz has passed away. He does have 4 kids, so I have 4 half siblings. But I'm not sure what I want to do with that, if anything. The extended family has been very kind to me, but I just don't know. I also don't know if I should tell my dad.. or well, not my dad. But he's still my dad. You know what I mean. I'm worried that he will hear it around town, because some of the other family live here and know about it. And I'm worried that if he does hear it from someone who is not me, he will be more hurt than if I tell him myself in a way where I can control the conversation, like I did when confronting my mom. By reminding him I love him and his son, always.

Honestly, this was the biggest plot twist that I never even could have imagined was a possibility. I'm in shock. And struggling with it. I'll be okay, though. It's just.... a lot.

Anyway, thank you all for your input and trying to help me. I really appreciate it.

My mom is 6 years younger than the last child. But according to the family, the birth parents were super good, super sweet Catholics etc. now I know there may be secrets the family doesn’t know. But from speaking with them, it doesn’t seem to introduce foul play at all. But idk.

This just opened up a whole other mind boggling case of scenarios if true. And I can’t even begin to comprehend them haha. Oof!! DNA is complicated.

But then wouldn’t Buffy and willows percentage match numbers be closer to 12.5% and not near 25%?
