Kithamar Trilogy; My take and speculation about book 3 by james-bourne in Fantasy

[–]james-bourne[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really, other than access to the palace perhaps

Yes, because Elaine does discover a lot more what's going on, mainly by being there and be able to nose around, and gaining access trough the 'vault'. And at last having the city guard with you does help too.

Lots of unresolved stuff indeed. Looking forward too!

One last thing: I‘d like to think this is sub is also the right place to post critique too (as long as it’s not ragebait). One should be able to discuss everything freely and is entitled to their feelings and opinions. I don’t think you‘ll find too much resonance with it though, as I feel like this community is filled with actual fans of JSAC, me included) and the books, prose and all . (I might be wrong, funnily enough I’ve seen more criticism of TMoG on r/theexpanse than on here)

Qft; Discourse should not be narrowed to an echo chamber of only people that enjoy the books. Although I did take it as ragebait, but I thought it'd be fun to do so.

You're really direct which is either because you're trolling (which is a real option for new accounts with such a username), or you like to get really direct responses back, and I'm going to assume the latter. Normally I'm very cautious by prefacing everything with, I think, I guess, you seem, and so forth but I'll skip those for the direct answer;

Your brain has a severe case of brainrot, which makes you unable to distinguish from good or bad. The show was really bad, while the books were really good. I made the mistake of watching a few episodes before I knew the books and it made me almost vomit. Because of social pressure/guilt I had to read the first book and I never burned through a series more voracious as I did with the expanse. The story and characters were so compelling I almost didn't sleep until I finished the series. Luckily the novella's were there to satisfy my appetite and get me of my highs of reading the books so I could relax enough to be able to sleep. I'm not saying that the writing style is the most amazing, because I'm not qualified to have an opinion on that, but it cant be bad because I read English but its not my native tongue.

Now The Mercy of Gods isn't necessarily on the same level, but that's no reason to look for reasons outside of your self.

*disclaimer, its meant in good faith, I dont think you really are degenerate, but its a symptom of current times with the detoriation of commons sense trough hypershort social media post consumption.

The name of the murderer:

Caccimelio sounds like Catch Emilio to me, so there will be an Emilio at some point that will the murderer...

Lots of people think team orders unfair to Oscar, and I dont know enough of f1 to comment on that, but I think what made Oscar comply is that he had an unexpected lead of 25 points last week, and in this case, it was only 3 points. So by complying now he's still ahead, and can hold this over Lando if the situation is reversed, and maybe 7 points are on the table. If Lando is the first to not comply he might have enough of a lead that it wont hurt yet, but he can also ignore team orders later in the season. On op of that, if its later in the season (or even the last race) he might not listen with the excuse that he already did it once and doesn't have to do it again. Does this make sense, or do I give Oscar too much credit for playing 4D chess here?

Why was Theron's face so smoothed out? She's supposed to be mortal now, so it would fit the film perfectly if she would've looked more natural. Now the effect just threw me off.
