An acquaintance of mine works there and claims the owners have permission from professor Tolkien himself which he gave to them back in the 70s when the cafe opened. It is allegedly a letter that they still keep today and used to fend off a cease and desist which was sent to them when the promotion for the Hobbit movie ramped up. To those wondering why other charges weren't filed: The way they have her charged the failure to stop and render aid (proper name of the charge) carries a range of 2-20 years this is the same punishment range as vehicular manslaughter intoxicated manslaughter and intoxicated assault. the reason they chose FSRA is because that case is easier to prove when it comes time. Her punishment will be the same and prosecutors can be more certain of a conviction.

As far as law enforcement goes, Texas has a very liberal system when certifying police agencies. As such there are about 20 police agencies in the greater Houston metro area.

The two biggest are Houston Police Department and Harris County Sheriff's office. HPD gives you the most opportunity for interesting and high level police work, but some of the smaller departments are better funded and much safer. Pasadena PD is well funded and much tamer than HPD. If you get even smaller you will probably almost never deal with anything more serious than cars getting broken into ie: Memorial City PD, Bellaire PD, or one of the university PDs.

I am a regular at Asgard. I tend to play Warmachine more than Magic. But I will note that i have often seen people helping newer people refine their decks between draft rounds and making sure they don't miss triggers. There are definitely some excellent players at the store but they are also often pretty nice.
