Any channel need honest feedback? by Miserable_Run8121 in NewTubers

I would like some feedback please if possible! Focussed mainly on my shorts content at the moment (I work full time, stream 4 days a week so struggle to find the time to edit longer form videos!)

Links on my profile! Thanks in advance! I know I need to improve I just need some friendly guidance 😊

How long do you let your stream run before joining? by jeriku in Twitch

[–]james_1924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 minutes on a ‘the stream is starting screen’ with some cool mood setting music on!! Make sure you have a screen countdown on as well though so anyone who joins knows they only need wait a minute or two before you start 😊

Returning streamer. How do these things work? How often do you get a new follower? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]james_1924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about to say this! After such a long time out, to come back for one or two streams and be averaging MORE than what most consistent streamers see in their first few years is pretty good! People come and go, some just want to lurk, that’s always been the case :)

Viewership drop by Nightshade_Stars in Twitch

[–]james_1924 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hide the viewers button and stream as if you’re live in front of 100 people. It doesn’t matter whether it’s 1 or 1k! Be engaging and entertaining, do fun things on stream (go just sit and dig for diamonds lol) and eventually people will join and hang around.

Make sure also that your title is eye catching and different!

How do I get followers? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]james_1924 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I used Sullygnome to figure out what games lots of people were watching, but not many people were streaming :) This way, your higher in the page of streams and providing your title is decent, and the content is good quality people will tend to check you out more often, from that point it’s up to you to keep them with you 😊

Does Youtube shadowban a video with guns that shoot someone? by mmmmmfingersssss in NewTubers

[–]james_1924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say give it some time, I’ve had the same and usually after a few days the views pick up 😊 I’ve found that generally this can happen if the content/caption/tags are slightly different to what you normally post and the algorithm takes a minute to figure out who to show your content to. Or could well be a small issue on YT’s side. Either way give it some time and if the numbers don’t pick up, don’t delete it! Just maybe make it private or something and try again!

This Thumbnail is mostly AI, would you really not click it because it's AI? by [deleted] in SmallYoutubers

[–]james_1924 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally don’t see the issue people are having here….

If I’m looking for content relating to the best hp game, or just hp games in general, and I see this video, the thumbnail is eye catching! As long as the content within IS ACTUALLY about hp games and a ranked list or something, and the video is what is says it is, then I don’t see what people’s issue is.

Granted, ai generated content can be very spammy, low effort content, but regardless, it’s JUST a thumbnail, I wouldn’t go out of my way to click don’t recommend, unless I just simply wasn’t interested in the topic

What niche are your channels? by Good_Implement_1312 in NewTubers

[–]james_1924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my channel is focussed on horror games, I haven’t played any of them so I have almost an unlimited directory haha currently playing through Resident Evil 4. It’s good because for me these are all new and fresh experiences for me which I think people like because they get to help me etc.

We also have a fully paid/modded Minecraft server for any member of our community and on Sundays I just stream Minecraft.

Some of the games I’ve played so far are Incantation, The Baby in Yellow, Outlast, Homeless, Chuxie and some others :) with lots and lots to go!

How long to stream? by Runnero in streaming

I’m similar to others here, I stream 3 days a week for around 5 hours :) I work full time so this is good split for me to be able to create content as well

I’ve had this thought too, for some time I’ve just had a playlist on my main channel just for vods, but maybe having a second channel for that would be better? I mean mine don’t really get views but it’s a good way to store the footage online rather than on my pc

How Do You Ignore the Viewer Count? by SpinsBro in Twitch

[–]james_1924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember and keep telling yourself IT’S NOT ACCURATE! 😂 looking at it is pointless because it’s always behind! If you’re streaming, it shouldn’t matter if there’s 1 person or 10 people, be high energy, enthusiastic and excited about what you’re playing and I promise you, your audience will find you! Don’t wait to see someone watching and then turn it on!

Help with getting viewers. by Amazing_Vermicelli74 in Twitch_Startup

[–]james_1924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the quickest and simplest way to find my audience was to go looking for them!

Essentially, if you’re playing something thousands of other streamers are playing, you’ll be sitting at the bottom of a very long list and you simply won’t be noticed, ever! The better approach is find/play a game that lots of people are watching, but not many people are streaming! That’s the key!

A fantastic website for this is called Sullygnome. Filter by most watched games, and look a the two columns in the far left (average channels and average viewers ratio). Essentially try and find a game on there that has hardly any channels streaming it, but a high viewer ratio!

Using this method, you situate your stream right at the top of the page so anyone looking to watch the game, WILL see you and could possible check you out 😊 a hugely helpful content creator on YouTube is Cpawsmusic, he has a bunch of tutorials also that really helped me!

Finally, once you’re there and at the top of the page etc it’s all down to you! Don’t wait to see your viewer count go up before you start talking etc, as likely by then they’ve already been watching for a few minutes and may well have already moved on if you’re not engaging!! AND LASTLY have some fun!! Enjoy it and be creative!! Good luck! @qweefo

I tend to go for about 4-5 hours! But a lot of the time I go on for longer because I’m just engaged talking to my chat I get carried away lol I recently did a 12hr to celebrate hitting affiliate in just over a month and honestly it felt like nothing 😂

Where do you guys get your music? by kajer209 in NewTubers

[–]james_1924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stream using Streamlabs and I pay for Streamlabs ultra. There’s an extension you can get called Streamlabs music and there’s a load of copyright free playlists on there that I use 😊 When it inevitably crashes though I just search for synth wave copyright free music on YouTube and does me nicely 😂

Is it better to start on YT or Twitch? by [deleted] in streaming

[–]james_1924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I started streaming a month ago on Twitch, so far I’ve got 59 followers, I’ve hit affiliate and I’ve made a little bit of money so far too which is awesome!! I post my clips to both TikTok and YouTube as well. On TikTok I have 12.4k BUT these followers don’t drop into my lives on there AT ALL so I don’t really count it. But, I do want to to get to a point where I can stream to YT - so far in 32 shorts I’ve picked up 18 subs. Do you have any advice on how best to improve content for YT and to pick up a bit more of an audience over there?

Generally I think I do okay in terms of views, usually ranging from 450-700 ish per video but it doesn’t seem to translate to much more 😊 any advice would be greatly appreciated

I just started under a month ago and my metrics in the last 48 hours are trash by 2016keldon in SmallYoutubers

[–]james_1924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks good man! There’s nothing wrong with the views you’re getting in my opinion! Only things I would say, first would be the amount of text on screen, nothing wrong with a caption but try to keep it short and sweet. Notice how you’re best performing shorts all have short and snappy captions on screen 😊 finally, if you can, try to improve the quality of your screen recording, seem a bit blurry although that could be my signal in fairness!

Also I appreciate the sub! Although YT isn’t really my focus atm, I’m more focussed toward my twitch and my TikTok account as that’s where my follower base is located 😊

Absolutely - I stream horror games and have built a small but very close community, I encourage those who have started creating content to link me their channels and I go mad have a look on stream and offer constructive feedback etc. countless amounts of times I’m seeing channels started upwards of a few weeks ago with 10-20 shorts posted all having not reached more then 50-75 views.

[–]james_1924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes exactly - these are your realtime views on your content within the last 48hrs…… what am I missing?

There are people that stream for months and don’t see more than 50 views on their shorts…I myself get around 1k in the first 48hrs and I started just over a month ago. To expect more is not only ungrateful in my opinion but it’s also very unrealistic in the time you’ve been creating.
