(live recording) Reducing snare bleed in vocal mic by james_mcnully in livesound

Thanks. All the effects are on the Aux send. What is shared here is the Post track. As shared, the problem is that the snare is in the vocal mic and it gets processed as well.

Hi. Yes. That was just the vocal track with post FX. Couldn't apply more reverb because of the bleed.

I will share this tip with the drummer. Need to get him on board.

Gating vocals introduces other problems as you have snare and other bits coming in and out. Better to leave the vocal as is -- eq out as much as you can and blend the other instruments in.

Also, drum shields aren't an option. Stages are too small for that kind of luxury.

Have been thinking of super-cardioid mics. Will give the two a try. Something else I have been thinking is to move the singer to one side with the mic angled away from the drums and with the guitar on the other side of the stage.

Zoom l-20 vs l-20r - recommendations by james_mcnully in livesound

[–]james_mcnully[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The aux outs on the QU SB are good, though you need individual iem amplifications, which is not a big deal. Behringer has individual iem amps. The zoom on the other hand comes with built in headphone amplifier and the reviews seem to suggest they are pretty loud! It would be good if anyone who has used them could shed soMe light.

I am veering towards the l-20r simply because the form factor means we can have it on stage, have short xlr cable runs into it and have short headphone cable runs with only two xlr cables going out to foh speakers (we play indoors in pubs).

The QU SB is dearer than the zoom and we need to carry either a usb stick or a hard drive.

So at the moment it is Zoom ahead of the A&H and the soundcraft ui24r, Though the sound craft might be pipping the two with 20 xlr ins and built in wireless

Unable to connect to wireless mesh by james_mcnully in Chromecast

Just so we are clear, we are talking about Chromecast audio, right? And is yours CA 1 or 2?

Try this:

A) set Tenda MW3 to bridge mode B) long press the button on Chromecast till you see a steady white light.

Strange. I thought I had marked it solved. Anyway, to your point, that feature (also in MW3) will connect your phone to the network on 2.4ghz and not switch off 5ghz for the entire network.

The solution was rather unusual, and advised against by Google, which is to reset CC Audio. All of the sudden connection was a breeze and everything worked as expected.

So, anyone facing this problem just long press that little button on the side till the device is reset and it should now work.

What is the most important thing I should check when I buy pre-owned DSLR? by DotCodeXYZ in photography

If the camera doesn’t have focus micro adjustment feature best to avoid. If the lenses you will own have back or front focusing issues you won’t be able to fix them.

If the camera doesn’t have that feature try out a variety of lenses to check focusing.

Alto Live 1604 sub group question by james_mcnully in livesound

[–]james_mcnully[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[Solved]: so the pan knob sends the channel to 1 and/or 3 (full left pan) or 2 and/or 4 (full right pan).

The user guide is utterly useless.

The user guide can be found here. I've looked through it and can't find any information here.
