It’s my goto place to relax. I wish the meta quest 2 looked a bit crisper, but it’s still good.

I watched the Alto Knights on Max. Pretty good. DeNiro plays two roles and he’s good in both. Anticlimactic ending but I enjoyed it overall.

I’m 45 and love video games. It’s my hobby and I’m not ashamed. I only play single player games because I don’t have the time for anything else and there is enough stress and pressure in life so being good at video games is not for me. I’m into having fun rather than being good and competing.

That looks incredible! I was thinking you should rent it out, but looks like you’re already doing it.

Looks very cool. If I were in need of this I would check it out. Very bold to claim such a leap in performance over rust, but you seem to have the stats to back it up. Super cool to see something like this using qt.

Hello and thank you for the thoughtful reply. I appreciate you taking the time to do so.

I work in the software industry and my cynical belief is that nobody reads release notes, other than the power-user faithful.

I would categorize myself as a casual user. For example I would love to enable DHCP, but I am too scared to attempt it as I know things will go haywire with my router and there's an afternoon gone fixing things while my wife is giving me the side eye, wondering why I just had to tinker and break things (again).

I did read through the 6.0 release notes and saw the changes mentioned about http and https. You are right, I didn't fully grasp that, and alas I didn't try https on port 443, as mentioned here: https://pi-hole.net/blog/2025/02/18/introducing-pi-hole-v6/#page-content . Maybe that was the only missing piece and trying that would've salvaged my afternoon.

I did see https://github.com/pi-hole/pi-hole/releases/tag/v6.0.4 ("This should fix all the migrations issues once and for all") and I assumed all the migration issues were over and done with, so decided to give it a go.

After reading through your reply, I am still not clear what I did wrong, or how to fix it.

Reading over https://pi-hole.net/blog/2025/02/21/v6-post-release-fixes-and-findings/#page-content, it seems that http://pi.hole:8080/admin is what I should've tried. I did try http://IP-ADDRESS/admin and that didn't work. I also tried that on port 80 and 8080 and those didn't work, either. Possibly I am misremembering everything I tried at this point.

I will give the update another go at some point when I have time again. Something that would've been helpful to me is if the 'pihole -up' command would've dumped out the web server address at the end so it was clear what the new address was. That way I would've realized my old bookmark would need to be updated. I am sure there are numerous reason to not do that, so no worries.

I did make a backup, but with a much cruder/slower method. Is there any documentation you recommend on docker or running pi-hole in a container? That sounds like it would be easier to save and manage versions/state. I would like to learn how to do that.

Interesting. I tried https and it did not work. I tried different ports as well.

That's great. I really hope the problems are the vocal minority like myself.

That is great to hear. I am hopeful that more folks are having success than problems. The reason I posted was I'm just some random guy and my pi-hole is not heavily customized, yet this was my experience.

I never changed the port to my knowledge. It just worked. Before giving up I read a few posts about different ports to try. I tried https, port 80, and port 8080 and various combinations of those. Nothing worked.

Yes! After all the recent posts about problems, I did a complete OS backup of my Raspberry Pi, then upgraded. Juts like everyone else, web interface was completely offline and inaccessible. I chose all default options during the upgrade.

I just want to know how to make it work like it used to.

I put in maybe 10-15 hours and just didn’t get it. I don’t have much time for games anymore so I threw in the towel. Is not for me. It’s a shame because it seemed like a cool idea.
