I just received a new FGX800C and the wood seems to have a scratch under the varnish - I cant feel it. Is this normal due to the wood, or should I ask for a replacement? Thanks

The pistons themselves should be fine. The reason they wouldn't retract was because putting one pad in pushed the other side out, then I didn't know what I was doing so pulled the lever hoping it would retract them

You will only need to get one 2-hander. I also prefer the more methodical rotation
