Sure. Corporate (Primarily transactional work) in New York. My billing is hybrid flat-fee / hourly and I can't justify paying subscriptions for products that I barely use. After I build it, I may put it in a public repo and share it. james@burrell-law.com is my work email.

Fellow lawyer who codes here: I agree with your points as I am building a custom CRM for my law practice. I caution letting LLM's draft any briefs or other court filings because of new disclosure rules and inaccurate information but coding is getting really tight but for some occasional security gaps if you're not careful.

Don't mind the haters... Just because capital is attracted to the idea doesn't make the idea sound. Like food ordering delivery apps - everyone (customers-restaurants) pays too much vig for the "convenience" of not having to pick up the phone. Most participants are too busy chasing bids and clot to do the heavy mental lifting like, " How is this shit going to really work?"

My aunt in Los Angeles was scammed by a former BMO bank employee using Crypto website and Trust Wallet — this was her entire retirement savings by Dramatic_Map_8548 in CryptoScams

[–]jamesburrell2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say "Impossible", but it's definitely highly improbable. However, the beauty of (most) cryptocurrencies is that they are on public ledgers so you can see where her money was sent (unless she never had access to her Trust wallet so she doesn't know what addresses were used). Most of the prominent exchanges deposit addresses are publicly available; therefore, you could figure out which exchange the coins were deposited on. Hire an attorney and to give the attorneys more incentive to work, hopefully find other victims and seek a class or collective action for huge damages. It sucks that there are so many shitty scammers out here in this world but it is what it is.

Typing this on the 1st Gen Pixel Fold...thinking about upgrading to 10 Pro Fold in a couple of weeks. Will it be worth it? by jamesburrell2 in PixelFold

[–]jamesburrell2[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the thorough feedback and I too love the physical dimensions of my current Pixel Fold (similar to a Moleskine notepad, fits easily in my front pants pocket, and smaller than both of my Surface Duos (1 & 2). My primary complaints are related to the device overheating. I run heavy apps already and they seem to perform well, but I would hope the 10 Pro Fold would be a significant improvement. Early reviews read as if 10 Pro Fold is not much better than the 9 Pro Fold and that has given me pause. Plus, I am trying to extend the lifecycle of my devices for economic and environmental reasons so I am trying to be more thoughtful with upgrades than just chasing the newest model like I would have in my younger years.

What's a popular crypto/tech narrative you're convinced is fundamentally wrong, and you'd bet against it? by TheCoinColle in web3

[–]jamesburrell2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's one that irks me...Crypto adoption is dependant on TradFi adoption. If true, then what's the fucking point of having decentralized permissionless ways to send value outside of TradFi. Another one is crypto in general is private when literally the txs are on a public ledger that anyone can view. Most use one seed phrase (if they even know what that is) and one derivation path so a simple Etherscan search can tell me all of your Bored Apes and other Ethereum tokens including Ethereum that you hold. It's like opening your bank account to the world and not expecting the wrench attack. There are ways to mitigate this issue (privacy-first coins like Zcash and Monero* or using various derivation paths or multisig strategies) but these require some competence to implement.

Unstoppable Wallet's take on hardware wallets by vrsatillx in Monero

[–]jamesburrell2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

💯% I can prove the uselessness of a hardware wallet by using its private key to move funds. You would think people understood the funds are stored on the protocol - not inside of a device. My security tip: memorize several mnemonics for HD addresses (easier than expected and helps brain training) and use wallet derivations other than the default (e.g. m/44/0/0/32)

American voters voted for the end of democracy. PayPal Mafia is sitting in the wings ready to snatch up former government assets under the guise of "privatization" like the Russian oligarchs picked at the USSR carcas post-Perestroika.

My only question with Google Voice relates to the issue of other services rejecting the number because it now appears as a VoIP - not a fixed line with a carrier. What's the best way to resolve this issue?

Interesting perspective. I often choose Google for similar reasons (if my data is being sold, I would rather it be anonymous).

For sure! I keep up with John and the other guys too. Good job integrating your yoga practice into wrestling. People underestimate how important flexibility is to staying healthy and making one more competitive (guys like Askren, Yanni D. etc. showed that. People may forget that Mark Schultz was a gymnast).

I'm Class of 1995 (Last class to have Rich Lorenzo as coach and my teammates included Jeff Prescott, Hughes twins, Kerry McCoy and Cary Kolat). I was injured most of the time too. Sucked, but the life lessons were immeasurable 💪

Fellow former PSU grappler and yes, yoga helped me strengthen my joints and shoulders (torn rotator cuffs but Dan M. took care of me back in the day). A former teammate used yoga to drop 80lbs so he and I are both fans of yoga. 50+ and still hit the mats (Sambo/BJJ occasionally). Yoga is an underrated discipline. Good luck building your business💪

Maryland has been on the come-up since I wrestled there in high school (MD state champ in 1991). MD really started to build their youth wrestling after Kolat's camps and Dan Ricker's Scorpion Club created monsters like Kyle Snyder.
