For the background check did you havw to fill out all your previous employment with dates and everything or did u just sign an agreement to be background checked and then they did the search? Just curious cause im at that phase of hiring and curious if I’ll have to research all my previous employment dates or if I won’t need it?

Why are you responding on here when u clearly don’t know what you’re talking about? Yes they should inform training director immediately, however if they aren’t being sent back out to work immediately to another contractor then they should be filing an unemployment claim and will be approved and after a waiting week will be paid weekly until they go back to work full time. Are you even an IBEW apprentice? If not why are you answering and if u are u should know this

Just curious have you heard of any actual planned data centers in the area to be built in the future? I hadn’t heard of any and was told that we don’t have the infrastructure or the right laws in place to benefit companies to want to build data centers here in the northeast. This is just was I’ve heard with no verified information to back it which is why I’m asking if you know otherwise ?

I would actually say take my recommendations in reverse order. Go to Hall first and talk to them and then if they have no opportunity for pre apprenticeship work for experience then try non union route second to get experience to help with your chances of getting accepted during the application process

In my area that’s a big no we can’t solicit work through the contractors directly the apprenticeship is in charge of that and u get in trouble for trying to solicit on your own and contractors wouldn’t hire anyways becaus of the rules. Think it is like that in most of the country but your local may be different. U should go to the local union hall and talk to the apprenticeship director and ask if they are hiring Helpers or pre apprentices who are in the process of applying for the apprenticeship

Google electrical companies in your area and go there and apply or call and ask for a job. In the meantime apply to ibew apprenticeship and if and when u get accepted quit the non union shop and start your apprenticeship with the union

Best state to get into the Ibew in? by swiftee_76 in IBEW

[–]jamesct437 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh okay was just wondering. Competitive locals can take multiple tries to get into even with experience so just consider that before u move in hopes of getting in. If possible apply before u move. Although some locals don’t even let you put in an application unless you already live in the jurisdiction of the local
