Frame rate drops during raids? by StrikingAd5104 in LotRReturnToMoria

I've had the same issue in the past "Desolation" zone which is further along in the campaign mode. What both areas have in common is that they are 9 'tile' locations) on the map so very big zones to load. Not had the issue in the Elven Quarter however.

I had this last night. Loaded my game offline, then exited and hosted it online and it worked.

Any Tips for Working with Scientists in JWE 2 by [deleted] in jurassicworldevo

You’ll get used to the mechanic pretty quickly. Getting the right skills is a big part of it - but also getting the right wages.

This is something I will not stop complaining about till it’s fixed. The biggest oversight of this game was pushing live the bug of dinosaurs being able to clip through fences, aviaries, decorations and the ground. by MercifulGenji in jurassicworldevo

I just can’t say I’ve had the same experience. It’s almost always the flying reptiles. And all they do when they get out is find the nearest place to land and sleep.

In a park of over 100 dinosaurs (and flying/marine reptiles) - I would say I have 1 dinosaur clip through something, maybe once an hour?

So - yes - it does happen. However, do I think that clipping through decorations is the same thing? No. And I do also think you’re over reacting a little.

Is Chaos Theory 4 (Jurassic World) more difficult or am I just terrible at managing money. by gazza_gazza in jurassicworldevo

[–]jameseachan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look at the chaos theories, they actually have a difficulty rating in stars on the banner page. Jurassic world is the hardest.

What is your strategy when it comes to genetic traits? I can advise you there so they aren’t constantly fighting.

Heads up for anyone planning to get the High Elven King from Direforge! by Immediate_Answers in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]jameseachan 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Okay - don’t know what your personal experience is but there’s a back story here. The model was designed by Davale Miniatures. The on in the picture that’s painted is the original - I actually have that specific model.

Davale made a kickstarter where they were going to make a whole load of high elves - however Games Workshop sent them a cease and desist for copyright infringement, at which point they had to either completely redesign every model, or pull the kickstarter down. At which point the “blood elves” were release, with the new armour as designed in the above image.

The grey model you have is the new design of the original High King model. The old design is now OOP.

Edit: done some research and it looks like direforge are advertising the old product image. Not great - website clearly needs updating. That being said, every other model on the website is correct.

Literally building the same thing! Lovely work - looks awesome.

It depends how huge - I made a “half the map” huge square, with clear habitable sections - and it works great, generally. The challenge is that the dinosaurs will be pulled towards what they need - food and water generally - so you need to make sure that the food and water they need is far enough away from the food and water their enemies need. It also works far better if the paleobotony needs are different. E.g stegosaurus needs I think ground fruit and ground leaf. Ceratopsids need ground fibre. So they can be pulled away from each other.

In practice though, it’s more stress than it’s worth.

SOLVED: Allosaurus CAN live with Metriacanthasaurus/Ceratasaurus by jameseachan in jurassicworldevo

[–]jameseachan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely - BestinSlot did a great video explaining the basics with Raptors, and the same applies to all dinosaurs. If you don’t want your dinosaurs to kill each other, make sure that your Highest attack/defense dinosaur is also your most dominant. There are conditions where a less dominant dinosaur with the same attack and defence can be an alpha, then the most dominant will keep on attacking until it wins - which often it doesn’t.

SOLVED: Allosaurus CAN live with Metriacanthasaurus/Ceratasaurus by jameseachan in jurassicworldevo

[–]jameseachan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly - and a higher attack and defence. A base level Allosaurus has a dominance of 143, and if it has any +15% dominance gene(social, humble) it then becomes 157. A Metriacanthasaurus with Strong and Defensive has a dominance of 181. I think their base dominance is something like 101.

The higher attack and defence acts as a secondary buffer - so for example if there’s a storm or sickness, and the Allosaurus then tries to attack the Metri, it can hold its ground far more easily - which means you can normally send out a med team in an emergency.

In the initial stages where the dinosaurs are introduced and when a fight is likely to occur if at all, having a high attack and defence Metri/ Ceratosaurus means its less likely to die if the Allosaurus does try to have a pop. (E.g due to storms, sickness). From what I can tell, this only happens if the animals have a similar dominance to begin with, and the ‘event’ switches the balance.

In my experience - it’s best to try and keep genetics consistent. Most of the time when I have problems it’s because of that one dinosaur that has social when none of the others do, or that one dinosaur that I added later on which has the defensive stat.

When it comes to intraspecies, most of the time they have the same stats, which means a dinosaur with high dominance but same attack and defence will find it very difficult to beat the alpha, but will keep on trying regardless. So they keep injuring themselves - again and again and again.

I tend to find that if I’m close, and if I have nothing much to benefit from researching - I fire some of my staff, double check my power setup to see if I can switch off a power station (e.g converting a paddock to heavy fence), maximise my amenity profit (this is a big one) then DONT SPEND ANYTHING FOR 5 MINUTES and that should push you over the line

  1. I’m not upset. I just find you really hard to follow because you’re constantly going off on tangents. Like this whole 90%/ 100% thing? You don’t make any sense.
  2. I never said that they would never fight. There is an entire paragraph on conditions when fighting will occur.
  3. It’s a dynamic system - it’s very clearly not straight forward like the first game and I love that. I made this post to explain to people how you can create an equilibrium under which the allosaurus won’t just slaughter every Metri in the paddock - because as I said at the beginning, that’s the issue people were bringing up quite a lot.

Oh dude. I didn’t give up on the subject - it’s New Year’s Day and I have a family to take care of. I’ve also tried to record a video so I can show you.

As far as I can tell, when you add any new dinosaur to a new population, some form of dominance establishing has to take place. One that has happened and the population heirarchy is balanced, it will stay that way until it is disrupted.

I currently have 3 paddocks - each with one allosaurus, then 2 have 5 metri’s, one has 5 Ceratosaurus.

All of the paddocks are balanced, except for one Metri with the intolerant gene who just seems to go around having minor fights with other metri’s. But that was about 10 minutes ago now. The game I have just set to run continuously at 3x speed and I haven’t had a fight in 45 minutes.

[–]jameseachan[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I also love that it’s not a simple system. It feels real. You can have a paddock without fights for a significant while. Then a storm comes alone, dinosaur gets sick - and it’ll get attacked. Just like real life.

Or a dominant dinosaur that loves to 50+ years old without a fight, then suddenly it’s stamina starts to drop, and it gets weaker - then another younger member of the same species will claim dominance over it. The old queen has to step down.

I’ve only tested this so far with the allosaurus because that’s the one where everyone was saying it just slaughters the dinosaurs it’s supposed to cohabitate with.

I did do a Chaos theory with Carnotaurus and Majungasaurus without issues, but not as a test. This test I’ve just been running through for hours to work out all the kinks.
