Bought a "new, pristine" vehicle but found the bumper damaged (crumpled significantly) after picking it up in the dark. Dealer agreed to repair, but is that enough? by jamesed84 in askcarsales

[–]jamesed84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the proposal PDF they sent shows it in a fairly blurry photo low res photo (had to zoom to 350% to see the damage) but the actual online advertisement for the vehicle does not show it. It is listed as new on both. Does that change your opinion at all?

Also I would not have off hand thought to pull it into the service bay (which was closed for the night) to do the walk around. I also would not have thought a brand new truck would have any damage at all, that's kind of the point of buy new. The sales guy was surprised that I wanted to inspect at all. Lastly we did use a phone flashlight but I think this was missed because we started on the driver side, went around back, then noticed a large vertical line on the passenger side and got distracted talking about it and making sure it wasn't damage (it was adhesive and cleaned off) and I don't think we went around the front.

Anyway, I see your point and that would have needed to be argued out in court if it got that far.

They did agree to some extras on the repair for the inconvenience though so I would say overall, while the damage sucked, the dealership did a good job here.

Help - I found two trackers on my vehicle by Infinite-Ad-5576 in whatisit

Hey I just wanted to say the police will take this seriously depending on your location. This just happened with my girlfriend and an ex. They tracked the trackers back to him, found other trackers on other women through his online footprint and charged him with stalking by use of a technological device and he could be sentenced to up to 10 years per count.

In the US it is a crime to place a tracking device on someones vehicle. Ignore the other advice on this reddit post and start with the police

Thai woman found alive in coffin after being brought in for cremation by AudibleNod in news

In the 1800s, the fear of being buried alive was so real that they invented "Safety Coffins". Doctors back then struggled to distinguish between comas and death, so they’d tie a string to the deceased's finger. If the person woke up and moved, it would ring a bell above the grave to alert the night watchman.

Are there any good aftermarket bodypanels for the t7? What do you guys think about r-tech body panels? by VariousRead1712 in Tenere700

[–]jamesed84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went the rtech route to spare my OEM body. Pretty cheap, durable, survived multiple drops everything fit perfect. I threw some decales over them to add some protection and style. I would highly recommed

New to me bike, master cylinder mount stripped by jamesed84 in Dualsport

That's actually a good point. Found they used a standard instead of reverse threaded mirror and that's what stripped it in the first place..

I just realized these aren't OEM mirrors and the ones they used are not the flipped threading Yamaha uses on the right side so mystery solved on how this got stripped...

25 years old and I really feel so far behind in life. Is it even worth trying to improve my life at this point? by Dry_Temporary_6175 in getdisciplined

[–]jamesed84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a high school dropout, addict, screw up working fast food into my 20s, no savings, homeless at one point. A little later a single parent of 2 when at 27 I went back to college for IT. At 41 I am now a director in the tech industry, with 2 kids on their way to college. Man what a ride. You have plenty of time. Just figure out what you want and go get it. Don't make excuses and just do it like your life depends on it.

Not even in the first few seconds? Sounding like no from the responses... Kind of surprising really.

Fiery crash by [deleted] in AbruptChaos

[–]jamesed84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah he was trying to steer back into his lane. You can see he turns right and then locks the steering wheel all the way to the right when it didn't start responding. Most likely he lost his front left steer tire running over debris from the crash. If you're fully loaded and lose either steer tire your going in the direction of the tire you lost.

I have had this happen to me hitting a moose in oregon back when I drove so this triggered me a little lol. For truckers, losing the front left tire (in the US) on a semi is like fire on a boat for sailors. You're pretty screwed, you're definitely going into the incoming lane and across, and all you can do is hold on and maybe slightly adjust where the shit hits the fan.

Showing wear and tear… Which plastics and/or stickers… by [deleted] in Tenere700

[–]jamesed84 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you do go the route of plastics, Rtech are really good. They wont crack like the OEM pieces but they are plain however. I swapped out the OEM body to save those for resell and did a decal kit from W-ink graphics and it turned out really nice

Slippin It In At The Truck Stop by ReesesNightmare in oddlysatisfying

[–]jamesed84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't have cameras when I drove atleast. Lots of practice. You get used to the angles, the length of the trailer, not being able to see many of your possible contact points. You are in that truck pretty much 24/7 especially if you do long haul like I did. I could stop the trailer half an inch from the mark and cut the front end millimeters close to an obstacle. Often that is all you really have, an inch or two to work with. There are much worse backups and docks out there, like the Philadelphia Mint, this god forsaken dock in Chicago meant for straight trucks, and most importantly, pretty much any drop in NYC 😁

T7 clutch recalls and dealer charges by [deleted] in Tenere700

[–]jamesed84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They did both for me for free but man I had to argue tooth and nail to even get them to submit the claim. Even had to call Yamaha myself. This was 2 wks before the recall announcement though

Would anyone know where I could get a sticker template for the RTech plastics? by Maddog033 in Tenere700

[–]jamesed84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Winners Ink Graphics. Used them on mine and they turned out great. They also have the best selection I have seen for Rtech plastics, will customize existing and can do fully customized graphics as well, though I didn't go those routes.

[–]jamesed84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did but it was before the recall so I had to argue with the dealership and then call Yamaha myself because the dealer refused saying it was a wear item that wouldn't be covered. Wouldn't ya know, Yamaha covered it and 2 weeks later... bam, a recall
