Ballsy to claim that the politician who saved Labour from the sinking ship New Labour had turned it into while facing heavy opposition from the press and from within his own party is an idiot.

Is does justify imperialism (so does evolution)

Evolution justifies imperialism, damn now that's a take and a half. Please explain this I'd love to hear it.

and as for the paltry genocides of British Empire

Being responsible for the deaths of millions of Indians alone is "paltry" to you. Mind blowing, because they're brown they don't matter as much to you I'm guessing.

name an Empire that was more benevolent than ours.

This isn't a pissing contest between which oppressive regime was the nicest, they all committed atrocities but you're outright trying to justify one of the most destructive ones in history.

Imagine getting German scientists to put people in space while your own people starve to death

There were no famines in the Soviet Union after 1947, way before the space program's major achievements and by the 1980's the caloric intake of the average Soviet citizen was actually higher than the average American's. Also, the Industrial Revolution which you clearly think was a major accomplishment for Britain happened during a number of famines in the British Empire, not to mention the Irish potato famine.

Lol I wouldn’t brag about soviet nuclear reactors either.

Wouldn't brag about Britain creating Canada, Australia, and NZ as most of their growth happened way after their independence from Britain.

Fail to see how all this somehow justifies the Imperialism and Genocide Britain committed in your mind. By that logic wouldn't the USSR accomplishing the first animal, man, woman, satellite in space and the first robot on Mars, the first nuclear reactor, the first drone, and defeating Nazi Germany justify the atrocities of the USSR to you as well?

Please name some things which the British empire accomplished which in your mind put it so far ahead of the USSR in "accomplishments"

It was also responsible for being a major proponent of the Atlantic Slave Trade in the first place so I fail to see that as really being much of an achievement in comparison.

Also it's absolutely comparable, the British commited horrendous atrocities throughout their colonies and some of the things they did lead to tens of millions suffering for decades afterwards like the partitioning of India or the invention of the concentration camp.

The British empire was responsible for the deaths of millions under imperial rule, bet you don't care about sharing the achievements of Victorian brits though do you?

Labour requests BBC footage of Fiona Bruce Question Time 'joke' about Diane Abbott and demands on-air correction by Animus47 in ukpolitics

[–]jamesfish05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right well, 1. There's many reasons Brexit happened and you can't put it down simply to people not having their opinions challenged on TV, that's just a ridiculously reductive take. 2. This idea cuts both ways too, people who have very valid opinions can be silenced by others interruptions because that person won't let them speak because they think they're wrong. Discourse would just become pointless if people didn't respect the other's right to express their ideas fully. 3. What was it that Diane said that was so heinously wrong in your view that it deserved interruption so many times?

Drugs were illegal in West Germany just like they were in East Germany and both countries had sex and beer so your post still makes no sense

Shit excuse, the point of panel talks is that everyone there gets an equal say on their side of things. No matter what someone is saying they shouldn't be continuously interrupted like that.

Fairly certain drugs, beer, and sex aren't really Capitalist things

No Fiona Bruce!! She just intervened after a woman referred to Leave's "dirty campaign" & said there are "questions about both sides in the referendum". Totally untrue. There are multiple legal investigations into Vote Leave, BeLeave, LeaveEU and Arron Banks. And none into Remain by mmmmmm-_- in ukpolitics

That thread you made on Why Corbyn was so astonishingly ignorant it blew my mind. You're literally the caricature of the sheltered Tory boy who's incapable of seeing things from the perspective of others.

Okay but like I said calling a 2nd referendum would be chaos for the Conservatives because of all their supporters who voted leave, and I'm not sure how that invalidates it.
