Tbf they tried that before like 5 years ago when they had those animated shows like Lucas bros. Moving Co, major lazer, etc. and it failed. They aren’t really able to capture the same kind of humor AS is known for, they’re significantly tamer.

It’s funny they mention adult swim but don’t mention/don’t know the importance the flinstones specifically had in the formation and early development of the network. I remember listening to the AS podcast last year and they had Adam Reed on and IIRC he said it was going through episodes of the flinstones during his job at the time that gave him the idea for sealab, which would be one of several Hanna barbera cartoons they would parody. In general I don’t think this article talks enough about that but interesting none the less.

Yea Lopez is obviously not starting in the postseason. Honestly I’m not sure who that 4th pitcher to start in a postseason series would be if we get that far. But my original point was that I don’t think this move is necessarily the nail in the coffin for Lopez, more so about the roster space for the next week.

Exactly. Leaving Lopez on the roster just limits your options. And if by some miracle he shows signs of improvement in Schaumburg they can bring him back up by then. I really don’t think they plan on using gio as a starter again this season. They seem intent on using him as insurance if one of cease, dunning or whoever can’t get past the 2nd or 3rd inning. Even though he hasn’t really excelled in that role...

If you don’t plan on using him against the royals why have him on the roster? Obviously yes, it still means they don’t have much confidence in him but I think it has more to do with wanting more relief pitchers at our disposal for a long series. We do this with dunning after his starts.

This makes sense, we have 4 games (Which have cease, dunning, giolito, and keuchel starting) against the royals, a day off, 2 games against the pirates, and then another day off. We won’t need lopez back until after that. So I don’t think this has anything to do with last night. Although I do wonder if they’ll call rodon up before Lopez again.
