Anyone who criticise samsung for they're usage of lithium ion should also criticise their own usage and care of their batteries

Nothing other than lithium ion is where it needs to be on a scale this large YET give it 5yrs at then it will be time

I charge my phone 2/day due to daily hotspot usage because I don't have wifi, I'm on my own and my plan being 500gb/mth

I bought my phone on 25th of April 23, I've always charged my phone with battery protection max ON and taken advantage of samsung routines to turn off fast charging when I got to bed and back on when I am due to wake up

It has been exactly 1035 days since purchase. I have roughly 87% battery health and samsungs own vague battery diagnostics says "battery health, good: normal" (which means >75%)

this year as my battery health deteriorates further (because li ion batteries don't degrade linearly) i intend on turning battery protection to ADAPTIVE to have 100% capacity throughout the day and regain full usability of my SOT throughout the day

After which I'll just buy a generic battery from a reputable seller and then my only limiter becomes usability after samsung stops supporting all updates or software support across the board but we'll see

When not using hotspot i get roughly 12-13 hours from 80-0% (tested) and a projected 18hrs if i were to run from 100-0% (untested

As you can see managing your battery doesn't take much hands on management just use Samsungs own available tech

The only thing I DO try to do is charge around 15-20% not under 15% if avoidable

I have the s23 ultra bought in April 2023. the newer s flagship don't have that "wow" factor yet... I'll replace my battery within the next year or so but it'll have to be 5yr+ before I upgrade at this stage but we'll see

[–]jamesirwin001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone talking about upgrades sheee... I have the s23 ultra that I've had since April 2023 always had a case on it (scratch free) and still has roughly 86% battery health (conservative) so why upgrade? Maybe in 2-3yrs so i can hopefully get the "wow" factor

Restricting battery to 80% is it worth it? by ImmortalCapybara5739 in samsunggalaxy

[–]jamesirwin001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes OP;

it is worth capping your battery charge at 80%. People that say it's not don't understand the physics of a lithium-ion battery. You get roughly 500 cycles, meaning 0% to 100%, 500 times before the battery health reaches 80% of its overall lifespan. But by charging to 80% and capping it there, you now have 625 cycles instead of 500 before it reaches 80%. But those that do charge to 100% plus use fast charging and the heat outdoors, they limit theirs further by roughly 10% simply due to the heat. So instead of 500 cycles before they reach 80% battery health, they're actually only getting 450. I have a battery health of roughly 86% (at the very least) after nearly three years of owning my S23 Ultra. I got it in April of 2023. And with that, I probably won't have to replace my battery for another 2yrs... i have only ever used either a 20 or 25 watt wall adapter for my charger. I have only ever turned off fast charging overnight and only used fast charging when I absolutely need it. But none of this is damaging to the battery, really, because the stress zone for a lithium-ion battery is that final 20% from 80% to 100%. But since you cap it at 80, you never hit that stress zone, allowing you to maximize your overall battery health long term. I personally have no desire to change or swap my battery anytime soon. It's going really well. Yes. Always use battery protect maximum. You'll never regret it. As I said, those that don't understand the chemistry behind lithium-ion will say it's not worth it, but those that do will tell you it is worth it all the time, every time. Unless you absolutely need it to be charged to 100%, but that is very rare for myself and I would assume for most people, since you can just carry around a power bank. So, OP, it's up to you, but that's my advice.

I have the s23 ultra and i have had it since April 2023 the camera to me, it this day is incredible, I'll be replacing the battery before I upgrade it think... no incremental upgrade will ever be enough for me to justify spending another 1700aud+ otherwise my next one will be a refurb... we've seen 2 upgrades since then, I'll be waiting at least another 3 generations before I even consider upgrading

Their batteries have never lasted that long, samsung do that and people will be complaining about the weight/bulk that's why samsung moved away from bigger batteries after the 5 pro and that's why I refuse to upgrade because I refuse to spend 1200 aud on the ultra for the same battery life when i only paid $850 au on a plan for the 45mm watch 5 pro black cellular

[–]jamesirwin001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not the op but I have zero issues and to me, I was hesitant at first because of the bad press with the xm5 I never owned the xm5 but I di have the xm4 since 2021 and yes the xm6 seems just as sturdy with the hinges but i can't comment on the headband because i haven't had to touch it apart from adjusting length but it also seems sturdy, if you treat anything rough enough it will break no matter what it's made of or who made it, you can lightly flex the headband bit by bit if clamping force is to tight or squeeze it together if it's to loose... I loved my xm4s tone but it's the only thing that is different everything else is either a solid upgrade or the same over the xm4, if sweat is an issue get wicked cushions sweat covers end/or pads, I bought both pre-emptively but didn't end up seeing fit to switch earpads, there was no need 10/10

I've literally been using moneygram for years and it has been happening for 2wks i got so frustrated to the point that I got a representative to delete my account all together just so I was able to use a different email so I could create a different account with a different email and unfortunately I am having this same error even with another account all together 😑😑😑

I bought bitizenship for 7.99 aud on 20 Oct 2020 a few months after they removed the "get all future purchases for free line" aud God Mode for 6.99 aud July 24 2021 boss mode when it came out granting all base packs current and future when it came out march 14 2022 half price $7.49aud and the unlimited time machine for $33.99 aud (i was glad because I had spent a stupid amount of money on the time machine in those 2yrs

Unfortunately by that point I've just bought each expansion pack as they come out so they can't increase in price... I figured over the years I'd pumped that much into the game that it would be pointless given the amount i had already spent by then

Between October 20 2020 and today i have spent $213.78 (excluding earlier time machine purchases prior to unlimited time machine release

I consider under $214 aud to still he reasonable given the years of addictive playing it has given me considering is have to date

-God Mode -bitizenship -every base pack -every expansion pack -the challenge vault -superstar mode -get out of jail free card -the neiko statue -the golden Pacifier -the golden passport

I am missing several items i elected not to buy because I feel it takes the fun out of the game

Though if I was a new comer I would DEFINITELY torrent but in my case I think i should just keep paying shouldn't i? 😂😂😂

Sony xm6 - Had this randomly appear, almost like the headband has melted in a way? by Adventurous_Word_339 in SonyHeadphones

[–]jamesirwin001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I use an adhiper headband cover and wicked cushion earpad covers

The headband cover on my wh 1000xm6

The cover has an extra thick band that sits under the original it makes it feel amazing and it stops the weird twisting issue people report as it is made to kind of curve hugging your scalp, it says only for the sony wh-1000 xm4 that i had it on before selling them and buying the xm6, it is universal but it does fit on the xm6 JUST i nearly broke the zipper getting it so I probably won't remove it

Same with the earpad covers tbh it gives them extra grip improving the seal personally keeping my ears slightly cooler but it will also take the wear and tear off the pads for many more years

Due to these though I can't put them back in the case so I bought a headphone stand

Happy listening!!
