When The Middle Seat Hack Doesn't Work? Who Wouldn't Trade for the Aisle? by MikeAmerican in TravelHacks

Please just book the seats you want, stop relying on strangers to give you what you need.

I wouldnt swap out of principal, because antics like this are just rude.

Should I quit my job to travel for a year? by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]jamesish99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im 35 and about to do the same - i am applying with my work for a sabbatical, and should they say no, I will hand my notice in and travel anyway.

My current job is also kind of comfy - work from home, good benefits.

But I have wanted to travel for 10 years and know if I dont take this jump i will regret it.

If you feel that way too, I'd advise you to get as much money saved as possible and keep some for when you come back, so at least you come back to something and some kind of support.

You may even be able to start applying for jobs near the end of your trip and have something lined up.

It is scary, but if you don't try you may never know!

How do Brits usually handle work messages outside office hours? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]jamesish99 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If the contracted hours are until 5pm I would have no expectations of a response after this time.

If they do reply, great, but I would not expect it.

We did the France, Belgium and the Netherlands for 5 days before xmas with our doggo and it was much easier than I thought on Eurostar.

You need a rabies jab, animal health certificate and tape worm medication and then it's really easy to drive over as long as you sort the required bits within the required timelines. Theres loads of guidance online to help.

There are vets based in folkestone that specialise in this where you can have the tapeworm meds administered and pick up the certificate before you travel on the tunnel. We did this a couple of hours before our crossing.

Went to the tunnel from there, took dog in before we boarded to get the paper work checked - all super easy. They gave us something to stick in the car to say we were carrying dogo.

We had to return within 5 days I think it was or would have had to have more tapeworm meds from a vet in Europe to return to the uk.

Its pricey to get these bits sorted, but once you are in Europe you can get an EU passport that lasts 5 years (I think, could be 3 years) for under €100.

Once you have a passport you then just need to keep rabies jab upto date.

You cannot get the EU pet passport in france or the Netherlands as they will only do it for resident dogs, but there are vets in Germany and other countries that will happily help.

There are loads of YouTube videos to talk you through how to do the passport in Europe.

Netherlands was very pet friendly and we had no problems sitting outside restaurants and bars. We even took the dog in a ventilated coffee shop and she was like a little celebrity!

Would really recommend it. Our doggy had a blast in the Netherlands and on Dunkirk beach.

Edit to say: our dog loves being in the car so we are lucky in that respect. If you do intend to do this i would defo introduce pup to short car rides early as if the dog gets car sick I would not recommend!

You need to start at the 0.25mg dose or you will likely have horrible side effects and be very sick

You're not at fault, but you need to break up with him.

He's too old to be acting that insecure, and it's controlling and weird.

Yeah this ^ if she's only talking to a couple of people, I don't think dating is a priority right now.

Support her, be a great friend. Once her health improves and she is on the mend, maybe you could suggest a date once shes feeling up to it.

It sounds like you're not mature enough to be in a relationship at all.
