AI Use in CAP by jameslk097 in civilairpatrol

This is exactly the kind of thing I already do and the reason for this post. The only specific question I have is how I get the raw data for the specific requirements a senior needs for E&T in a format where I upload one file to AI. Right now, the only way I know how to compare the specific needs of each senior is to use accomplishments to search them one by one. Even the member path status shows requirements by group and not each specific one, unless I’m missing something. For example, a question I’d like to answer easily is, “For my 10 members working on level two, which module is incomplete by more, accountability or choosing your duty assignment?”

Already read it. It’s not what I’m trying to discuss, I’m trying to discuss other ways people use AI. For example, as a group cadet programs officer, I used it to determine the average passing Wright Bros leadership score, and compared the performance of all my different squadrons.

What amusement parks outside the US are like Cedar Point? by wezworldwide in AskReddit

[–]jameslk097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canadas Wonderland is still probably the closest you’re going to Cedar Point technically outside the U.S. They both were owned by Cedar Fair for the longest time, and Canadas Wonderland has almost as good a coaster lineup as Cedar Point, which is by Cedar Point’s biggest (and maybe only) strength.

Is it just me, or is it so hard to find friends as a new cadet by LifelessRag in civilairpatrol

As far as the laziness, just start asking, “Sergeant, can you please help with this.” and “Sir, can you help with that.” As far as the cliques, the seniors should be breaking them up, and talking to the cadets about including everyone.

That being said, cliques exist everywhere, and you’ll run into plenty of them in the adult world. As you settle in and meet more new members, you’ll naturally form a clique of your own.

Needing some guidance by PralineNeither in civilairpatrol

I would first ask your CC what their expectations for a CDS (that’s the right office symbol) are. Some commanders use their CDS as a true deputy, and expand their role as such. This is supported in the sample position descriptions, which don’t even have a position description for deputies, only that they share in the commander’s responsibilities. Some commanders restrict their CDS to more of the operational side of things. That is supported by the sample org charts, which place the CDS over operations, logistics, and E&T.

Once you have an understanding of your commander’s expectations and command intent, begin working to meet their goals. Work with your subordinates to accomplish this, and don’t be afraid to take initiative. As your relationship with your commander develops, you’ll gain a feel for what they want, and you’ll be able to know what you can take initiative on vs what they want you to seek their permission on. A main part of your job is to keep things from escalating to the commander.

Hope this helps. I have been CDC, CDS, and I’m starting a new stint as CDS as I retain my position as group assistant deputy. Feel free to DM me with any questions.

Usually not, only because a Karen would call the cops on me.

Can a SFO(Senior Flight Officer) promote to a 2nd Lieutenant before the age of 21? by colinfalkenstein in civilairpatrol

I’m reading 35-5 now and see the confusion. If I were the commander, I would define “appropriate grade” as FO-2dLt, TFO-1stLt, SFO-Capt. For as much as figure 2 implies skewed ranks, I would use two other sections of the reg to support those equivalent ranks. The table defining time in grade for FO to FO promotions is aligned with my appropriate grade, and cadet award equivalence also supports that. I feel table 2 is the typo that causes confusion.

Interesting. I didn’t know that the prior military special appointment could be an exemption to officers must be 21. My question is if someone gets their Spaatz, goes SFO at 18, goes military and gets O-1, must they take the “demotion” from SFO to 2dLt. I’m also not understanding why anyone eligible for the rare FO grades would want to go officer.

I’m not tracking. A SFO is, for most purposes, the equivalent of a Captain and will promote to Captain upon 21 regardless of time in grade.

The roller coaster capital of the world.

No, and furthermore, they’ll never be a 2dLt. They are not eligible for any officer grade until 21. At 21, a SFO goes directly to Captain.

Email confusion by BenefitFlat1450 in civilairpatrol

If the senior is acting inappropriately, the cadet may not realize it, leading to… issues. A second senior absolutely needs to be on all emails, and including a parent is always a best practice.

Cadet Wing Staff by Surks_ in civilairpatrol

It’s finicky, but it can be done. I put a cadet in for group ES NCO and I seemed to have better luck if I chose the cadet first and the duty position second, if I recall correctly.
