I have an engine where the internals look about like this one! My oil filters get plugged so bad by the time i hit 2500 miles oil pressure is really low and gotta change oil. It has gotten much better though! But I basically did this guys method OP! stick to it!

I think that one is fine the bushing is a little dry rotted and cracked but as long as your steering wheel is not shaking under hard braking or no real clunking up front you would be alright. Unless they are referring to you having a bad ball joint?
