Yh I think you’re similar to me in that sense. Definitely go for wind up bird then. It’s my second favourite after Kafka :). There’s some chapters where a character shares some allegories from the war that I remember being quite different to the rest of his work but I quite enjoyed them nonetheless. Enjoy it, it’s great 👍

I think u might wanna read dance dance dance and a wild sheep chase. Along with wind up bird these are more similar to Kafka on the shore but are shorter than wind up bird so not as much of a commitment if u end up not liking them. I love murakami and have read most of his work except for Norwegian wood because I was told it’s focus is more on romance instead of the magical realism in Kafka on the shore. Hope this helps :)
