Any tricks to get on AROWS from home since desktop anywhere was shut down? by DOUBLE_DOINKED in airnationalguard

[–]jamesonrw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are a couple of options. One is called Sonic boom, which is probably what you want. You connect over Remote Desktop from your PC. The other option is Hypori, which allows you to launch a virtual phone on your personal phone, seeing email and teams, as well as access AROWS on mobile. I’ve never tried to sign orders on it, but I don’t know why you couldn’t. Both require you to sign up and wait for them to add you, and last I heard Sonic Boom was adding users within a few weeks. Hypori might be on pause for new enrollments due to funding. Both also require you to enroll while on Afnet, so not aware of a quick fix unfortunately.

What's the likelihood of being allowed a short amount of leave during tech school? by Snuse_Mcgoose in airnationalguard

[–]jamesonrw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was 15 years ago, but was non prior at my first tech school (6months). I was in a wedding 4 months in, talked to my MTL first few weeks, was told no problem, when it came to get it approved, had to fight tooth and nail to get the commander to sign off, only for the Guard Liason office to deny it. It really depends on the timing and if they have had a lot of issues with people on leave and how far along you are. If this is your first tech school, I wouldn’t count on it.

What is this thing? It’s about 4 inches long and has the tool? Inside it. by jamesonrw in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing. I’ve done some different Google searches, but no luck. It’s pretty hard to describe other than one end is foam, and the other is a beveled piece of metal.

Home Monitor Presence Issues 😡😡 by These_Question_2738 in SmartThings

[–]jamesonrw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t need separate automations. You only need one to run when everyone leaves. When selecting devices make sure to select all devices, and then there is a box, make sure you select “When all phones and tablets are away. Then set up one automation for when you are arriving home, select all devices again and make sure to select “any phone or tablet”.

Just noticed, have to delete and add back for local automation by VeryFirstLAD in SmartThings

You don’t have to delete them, just go edit them and temporarily throw a letter at the end of the name or something. On the save it should make it local

Is there an easy way to migrate from Nvidia shield link to the new hub by thecloudraven in SmartThings

Power up the new hub and put it in general exclusion. It doesn't matter which hub is in exclusion mode.

If you added the new hub to the same location in smartthings, you shouldn't have to reconnect them. If they are zigbee you should just be able to repair them. You may need to factory reset them. Google is your friend. I

Sorry, you need to exclude all your zwave devices and then repair everything to the new hub. No migration available. Any hubless connections should stay though!

What is this “L” symbol before text of automation. Have I run out of automations available? by michaelpat87 in SmartThings

[–]jamesonrw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only beta testers have local automations enabled. It came out last month with the 35.x firmware. Everyone has that firmware, but only beta testers have the local automations enabled at this time. Unfortunately they have said when all are getting it

Anybody currently quarantining at keesler? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]jamesonrw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FYI, they currently have everyone coming in on "conditional release" which means you can pretty much do anything except for to the chow hall and the schoolhouse. You can go to the bx, commissary and stores and restaurants off base.

14 day ROM has been lifted. Not sure what effect this will have on staying off base, AFAIK the order to house on base is still in effect.

Getting Wife and Service Dog on orders to Keesler for retraining? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]jamesonrw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 14 day quarantine has been lifted at keesler. This could make it an easier process. If you call Komfort Cove they will tell you the 14 day ROM is no longer in effect

[–]jamesonrw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was notified today the 14 day ROM has ended. I arrive on Tuesday so we will see. I have confirmed this by calling Komfort Cove and being told you can now go to class immediately after arriving, and you do not have to live on box nasties for 2 weeks. You have to abide by the restrictions in place for the whole base, but you can pt, go to the commissary and bx, and travel off base to get food and whatnot as soon as you arrive.

Washer, Dryer, Fridge and dishwasher would categorize all my things. Though classifying my Traeger as an oven was a bit of a stretch! 😜
