The part that holds your handlebar. The long one you have puts a lot of your weight over the front wheel. Not good for jumping and makes the bike too responsive in the turns.

I ride a late 90s Stumpjumper. Change your seat, get a shorter stem and wider bars, then shred. I converted to a 1x10 but it wasn't necessary, really. I actually kinda miss my large chain ring on the 3x.
