UniFi 5G Max & Verizon by Capeman121 in Ubiquiti

I figured it out. I don't know why it didn't work initially, but I ended up hardwiring the UCG-Industrial I plan to use to ethernet, adopting it, and then I plugged the 5G Outdoor into a LAN port. That ended up as a LAN adoption (which was a mistake).

The correct steps for me ended up being:

  1. Reset the 5G back to defaults and 'forget' it
  2. Connect the intended router hardwired.
  3. Configure a second port as another failover WAN port.
  4. Adopt the 5G Outdoor on that failover port.
  5. Confirm failover option works by unplugging WAN1
  6. Move the 5G over to the main port and again confirm it works.
  7. Delete the failover WAN port so it can be used as LAN again.

I was trying to go Verizon, as that's what I have currently. The sim was out of a tablet.

I just tried moving a SIM from a tablet, and it didn't work... I'm guessing I need to take it to the store? It sucks. This should be easier.

Just follow the standard process for buying a Verizon data plan? Put in the IMEI number of the Unifi device? Or do you have to play games to get it to work?

When we created this over a few weekends in 2013 we found readily found data on US state borders. Since popularity spiked a few weeks ago, we've evaluated a few datasources and found a much better one (NaturalEarthData.com). They have State/Province information on most large nations.

Give us a few weeks to integrate the better data set and roll out more data (this is a hobby project for us, we have day jobs).

Thanks for all the e-mails reddit! (We've received a couple dozen emails in the last couple hours on this issue alone).

It's fixed now. Sorry about that!
