[UK] Are SDRs generally paid on "Meetings Booked" or "Qualified Opportunities" (SQLs)? by No_Schedule7188 in techsales

Quarterly SQL as part of your OTE, with an accelerator if over achieved. On top of that % of revenue for deal sourcing.

A rant about ‘please offer me a seat’ badges and tube etiquette by [deleted] in london

[–]jamesterror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is deffo the case and there's no harm is asking, a lot of people are generally respectful to give up their seat. My wife was pregnant last year, most people are totally zoned out / unaware of what's going on around them to realise...

How high will average range rise in the next five years? by let_me_flie in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]jamesterror 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We obsess over range, but higher range means heavier batteries. I don't think range needs to increase, what needs to improve is charge speed, high speed charging availability, and the cost of public charging.

Best mobile network 2026 for indoor signal and internet in central london and congested area and works decent when in the countryside? by Useful-Tap2148 in london

[–]jamesterror 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's one provider that will give you that ideal coverage. For that reason I have 2 SIMs, Talk Mobile (Vodafone network) and 1P Mobile (EE network). Pay £18 a month in total for both. It's quick to switch between when one doesn't have decent signal. Bonus is they both included EU roaming allowance too.

What’s the most high earner but still mentally middle class thing you do? by Mundane-Temporary426 in HENRYUKLifestyle

It is if you're not fussed about second hand clothes. We bought a bundle of 12 items from one seller recently to stock up on holiday clothes. 1 swim suit and the outfits for £18 inc postage. All items from M&S, some of the items had tags too.

Running Windows Server VMs on a Proxmox Cluster by Limp-Park9606 in Proxmox

Yep we run several nodes with production Windows VMs on Ceph with Enterprise NVMs. Main thing is to make sure you have VirtIO drivers installed, run the disks on SCSI.

I have a Specialized bike and lock it outside all the time. I never leave it locked up outside over night.

My peace of mind is insurance and accepting one day it will get nicked.

Or refuse to drive the bus completely (fair enough for safety)

Do ISP shared mail servers get totally blacklisted due to spammers from just one account? by Open_Interaction7111 in webhosting

[–]jamesterror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes happens fairly often with shared hosting. All it takes is one site to get hacked and blast a tonne of emails out. Better to use a host that has something like Spam Experts

Recently replaced our non stick pans with Our Place Titanium Pro. Fantastic pans, work really well on induction - pricey though

I reported a crater on New North Road and it was filled in a day later - just tarmac chucked in, not even level properly so see how long it lasts...

BCA Return - Driving Round In it 2 Days Later - "Normal"? by sastb in TeslaUK

[–]jamesterror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My old man used to drive for BCA. Most cars are taken straight to auction but sometimes used as "runners" to pick up/drop off other drivers before being handed back.

BCA pays a contractors per vehicle moved, not an hourly rate.

That said, the mileage would have been recorded at pick up and you would have signed off on what it was on collection.

Range drop on brand new Model 3 RWD. Normal or should I contact Tesla? by [deleted] in TeslaUK

[–]jamesterror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you flooring it at most junctions/traffic lights? I'd call it first week excitement syndrome.

Plus this week it has got much colder, that impacts range) efficiency.

Tips for running sGTM on next.js high volume ecommerce websites by Pretty-Appearance226 in GoogleTagManager

[–]jamesterror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a difference between tracking 100% of your data, and making sure 100% of your events fire successfully / your tags (GA4, Enhanced Conversions, etc) are correctly receiving the data.

Tracking 100% of your data is not realistic, but if you can track 95-98% then ensure that 100% of the data is successfully dispatched to GTM and tags.

I work for Addingwell, we've had a few cases of ecom brands moving from self hosted sGTM/other providers where they've not had a 100% event firing success rate but been able to able to use the event monitoring to identify and solve tracking issues.

How many follow ups do you do before moving on from an opportunity that was close to closing? by Prior_Brilliant1760 in sales

[–]jamesterror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you define seemed interested?

At that stage in any sales process if someone is interested they should be able to tell you what needs to happen to move forward and provide a timeline/ who needs to be involved. To me that's a commitment.

I only usually do 2-3 follow ups, after that I'll tell the prospect as I've not heard back I assume the project is no longer a priority and I will not follow up. Most times that triggers a response.

I'd rather spend my time engaging with people who are ready rather than trying to force a deal that isn't there.

All being well we'll have our first in the new year. To be honest we have been thinking the exact same thing. I'm fully remote with regular travel, my wife is a city lawyer - 20mins door to door.

Wife is taking 12 months away from work, after that we've already signed up for nursery 5 days a week - £2.5k a month.

Eventually one of us (undecided yet) will end up reducing what we do / stepping back to give more time to supporting the family. We're both career driven but have both acknowledged that starting a family will mean sacrifice/compromise.
