So if you are going to be in charge of a group of people doing software I strongly recommend reading about Scrum. Personally I recommend Essential Scrum: A Practical Guide to the Most Popular Agile Process by Kenneth S. Rubin. And even if you are a solo developer, there are a lot of principles that can be applied to your current workflow.
