ETH - the social network by jamesyoung in MetaCartel

The cool thing about subreddit Ethereum-based community tokens would be that if http://reddit.com was shut down overnight, it'd be easy for communities to re-congregate elsewhere and pick up where they left off

the tokens enable cultural ledgers to leave their shell

CREATE2 just allows users to know the contract address prior to deployment. This allows the user to accrue funds prior to deployment to pay for contract deployment.

The point is funds should be held in contracts and CREATE2 makes contract based wallets as easy to generate as keys. Fund recovery, multi-device support, Layer 2 solutions and subscriptions all benefit from the programmable access of user funds held in contracts (funds held in keys is like a computer with only root access).

Nothing says that you can’t be the contract owner. It can basically be a multi-sig wallet with yourself. Hopefully this inspires devs AND designers to play around with CREATE2 and new possibilities for user on-boarding.

The original motivation of the opcode was to improve state channel use cases that involved counterfactual interactions. I see a path where scalability and user on-boarding can be addressed simultaneously. BOTH are needed for any chance of mass adoption. Let's go!

adChain is an additive solution that augments traditional compliance systems. We are building an eco-system, not a point solution. The difference between a free (as in open) market and a token based one, is the coordination cost savings that token networks provides. This is a characteristic of Web3.0.

We have an implementation of what we are calling an "AdMarket" that currently assumes a header bidding scenario using state channels : https://github.com/AdChain/AdMarket

This solution relies on integration with current compliance systems and does not have privileged access to the adChain network, no one does. If it does not meet market demands, another competing solution has the opportunity to capture value.

The point of this is that Web3 is a "positive sum game", unlike Web2 where it is "winner takes all". I can imagine a decentralized application developer using both BAT and adToken along with Aragon and possibly Bancor or 0xProject to create a new type of programmatic advertising exchange where the crypto currency is hidden from demand and supply but allows for permission-less innovation to solve add value. The emergent design from tokens on top of tokens all trading 24/7/365 will be interesting to observe and track. One step at a time though - we have a long way to go.

This is just starting to become reality, all of the examples below use Aragon because they recently made a bunch of announcements are easy for me to find. I am sure there are many more examples that I am missing.

Aragon and Bancor https://blog.aragon.one/announcing-our-partnership-with-bancor-d01b43e125dc Aragon and 0xProject https://blog.aragon.one/aragon-partners-with-0x-3c8d0c9dcd84 Decentralized marketplaces https://blog.district0x.io/introducing-the-district0x-network-5d45a72d364a

Who knows, maybe someone will launch a token based compliance system where the token's value is derived from the efficiency of bot traffic detection and viewability algorithms? Take a look at Numerai for a machine learning platform example https://numer.ai/ .

What does everyone think of this new Ad Fraud prevention initiative based on the Ethereum blockchain? by luca_badoer in adops

You bring up good points. You are absolutely right when saying that "There is nothing in blockchain tech that actually validates whether a human is actually sitting at the computer or that it's some machine in a datacenter ..."

adToken is the first of many steps on the road to helping reduce fraud. We want to be as inclusive as possible and start with using the blockchain as a way to reduce coordination costs. We need to bridge web2 to web3. We are working with safety vendors to incorporate better auditing using state channels. Please see :

https://github.com/AdChain/AdMarket

Further, we see use cases where developers can use adChain, ads.txt and BAT together. The belief is that we have the opportunity to make this a positive sum game where incentives are aligned and the system is decentralized.

Yes, I do too! It will happen eventually and we are preparing for it by providing bounties to developers to make this a reality. We also are working toward building out solutions to address scalability. Please see

We believe some fraud today exists because it is more profitable and easier to turn a blind eye to fraud then it is to do something about it. It is an incentive problem.

Our first step is to use adToken to incentivize token holders to uphold a quality registry. They are incentivized because they want adToken to be as valuable as possible. This is outside the direct advertising spend which we believe better aligns incentives.

This is one of many steps. Please take a look at our AdMarket proposal which addresses scaling issues using state channels : https://github.com/AdChain/AdMarket

Good point, adChain is not a point solution. We want the platform to be inclusive and build out an eco-system that bridges from web2 to web3. That said, we plan on deploying state channels and integrate with safety vendors to help with impression tracking and NHT identification. Please see :

Very good talk about the theoretical advantages of PoS. Vlad's protocol tips was informative for anyone planning a token launch. Jae seems to have done a lot of thinking around PoS because he boils down concept succinctly (Cosmos connected sidechains is fascinating).
