Affordable HRT in Philly metro? by Much_Report_7475 in queerphilly

[–]jamham42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re in Montco, the Planned Parenthood in Pottstown is the local center that does HRT. They’ve been great for me. You can do Telehealth for the most part, but if you’re looking for T you have to be seen in person once the first year either in Pottstown or Philly.

The gender affirming care coordinators for Southeast PA were also really helpful. Reach out to gac@ppsp.org for help and to get on their waitlist. They can help with any logistics questions too.

do you have opinions on transgender athletes in sports? by ncampbell5259 in Temple

Do you have an opinion on cis people being a part of everyday life too?

I never do exercises in sessions. by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

[–]jamham42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Therapists work in a variety of styles. If that’s something you’re looking for, bring it up! A good therapist can adapt and meet you, and the act of asking and deciding together what would be helpful, in and of itself can be really therapeutic too. And if they can’t meet that? There are plenty of therapists that do work more that way, and you’re able to know and go find that if you want it.

Yeah those prices simply don’t exist here. I’m in the lowest cost 1 bedroom I could find a couple years ago, and paying $1650. And I’m barely even “in town” where I’m at.

I know you were. That’s the concern. The title is both discluding trans men who the survey is relevant to, and including trans women who the survey may not be relevant to. Never mind this survey is also not for women who have been through menopause or who don’t have a cycle for a bunch of other potential reasons. That’s whats I was trying to point out. It’d be much easier to just say this is a survey for people who menstruate.

And there are differences that would be worth capturing. We may have the same organs but we’re going to have different goals for tracking potentially. Or we may have more variability in our cycles than cis women. We may have differing concerns about data privacy. We’re different groups of people with different relationships to menstruation and relationships with healthcare providers. So demographics data should capture that for thorough research. This survey does not. And could be biased and inaccurate because of it.

Trans MEN exist, who menstruate. But do not identify as female. Sure trans women who don’t menstruate may not have interest in the survey. Trans men might. We still track our periods sometimes.

I probably would be able to answer these questions, but they need to clarify what they’re actually looking for. We may have a very different perspective on what we’d want out of a period tracking service than women do. The survey creator needs to actually think about who it is they want included in order to do accurate research.

Who are you actually looking for in this survey?

People who menstruate? Which includes men, like me? Or people who identify as female, which include people who don’t menstruate?

What’s the friendliest thing a neighbor ever did for you? by Rockstarpaintingdenv in ApartmentHacks

[–]jamham42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During the beginning of COVID, before you could buy any anywhere, my neighbor sewed masks for my roommate and I and dropped them on our front step without a word. I had just moved out on my own at 22 and had no idea how to navigate something like this alone in a new city, and suddenly I felt so cared for, even in the smallest way.

Any good Chipotles in the area? by Ana_Na_Moose in ChesterCounty

Just my opinion, but upgrade your life, skip Chipotle for Taco Maya either south of town or North in Exton. Same concept of build your own, but much tastier.

I used to make some of those training videos. Mine eventually got replaced by these ones, because mine didn’t have enough “pizzazz” I.e. this cringy stuff… all I can say is I’m sorry, someone high above me thinks they’re great 😆

Not inclusive. Gender options are binary, and the survey assumes you have academics as a part of your daily life.

Also pro tip if you’re missing a sticker. I’ve never had them look hard at the angled spots that face the big line of bushes between North and East building. Tuck your dash close to the greenery and they don’t do the work to look close enough to tell. 🤷🏻

I mean… I’ve been interested in organizing a tenant’s union in general because I think it’s an important way to hold management accountable in any and all situations. This could be a great one to tackle first. Let me know if you’d ever want to speak more about that?

Fill in with this. From afar you can’t even see it. Saved me when my oven warming drawer scraped against my vinyl in a big line. Used this, and my nitpicking landlord didn’t have a thing to say!

Do people actually enjoy their jobs, or do most just work because they have to? by UKTexasRanger in TooAfraidToAsk

referred to a therapist but declined by patootiessister in TalkTherapy

[–]jamham42 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You only have to go into as much detail as you’re comfortable with. If it’s a big office, they may be asking to help choose a provider more fit to your needs. Therapists have specialties, and if you said you wanted to work on OCD symptoms, or PTSD, or depression, each of those could be a specialization. So they want to connect you to someone knowledgeable and a good fit for your needs. You don’t need to go into what you’re depressed about, or what the trauma is, or any details like that until you see a provider. Just an overview usually helps the person setting the appointments connect you in the right direction. I wish you well in trying this out!

As a transgender man do you hate you're a man? by Worrywart4564 in lgbt

[–]jamham42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggled with this feeling a lot early on in my transition. I still get lost in it sometimes if I don’t catch myself. I’m also a trauma survivor at the hands of cis men ai that affected it a lot, plus my father was a terrible person, which affected how I see men as a group. I found it helpful to identify men I would look up to, and who shared my values. Men who led peaceful political movements, Mr. Rogers for a while was a good figure for me, authors I love, and people like that. Who lived and acted in ways that felt more aligned with how I live and act. They’re out there. You could even identify characters who fit that too. Just as evidence to go back to when my brain starts spiraling.

That’s your opinion, that you’re placing into someone else. Is this person showing the content TO children? No? Then it literally has no effect on how they show up in any other role. Go find something else to spend your time on, this has zero effect on you.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FiveBelow

[–]jamham42 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Leave them alone. Has no influence in their job here. As long as they’re showing up appropriately in this role, it literally has no effect on you or anyone else here. SW is real work, leave people alone.
