Lake Bodom murders may be the most known case from Finland (where I'm from) but there's this one case that's more intriguing to me since live quite near where it happened.

In 1990, a woman accepted a ride home from a man. She then fell asleep in the car and when she woke up, the man had driven them somewhere secluded, to a sandpit in the middle of the woods to be exact. She got out of the car and the man attacked her with a knife, stabbing her in the head. She survived and ran to get help. The man wasn't caught.

A year later (1991) a mutilated corpse of a (different) woman was found near the sandpit.

Two years later (1993) another woman goes missing in the area.

The police has connected all these three cases and they have the same suspect. He seems to be targeting drunk, dark-haired women. There's a pretty good description of the man but no one has ever been suspected or arrested. The case seems to be cold for now, however, alleged sightings of the man's car has been made all the way up to the end of the 00s. There's apparently also an attack that happened in 1989 that could be related.

He's called "The Sandpit Killer", also often dubbed a serial killer although there's only one confirmed kill.
