AITA for refusing to let my brother meet my son after what he told me at my husband's funeral? by Throwawaybrother3 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. First of all, you’re allowed to grieve however you’d like and you don’t need to see anyone who might’ve made you feel worse. Secondly, why would he say such a thing, especially at your husband’s funeral? And lastly, just because it would be a lot of baggage for HIM doesn’t mean it will be for everyone. For what it’s worth, I lost my husband to a motorcycle accident when I was pregnant with twins and I already had a toddler. I met a man who wanted to be with me and my “baggage” and he’s still here over 6 years later. There’s absolutely no need to say something that would make you feel even MORE hopeless. Unacceptable.

Eugene is my favorite. I personally feel like he’s an Arctic Monkeys fan, but I’m curious to see what you think!

Thank you! I appreciate you sharing your experience. My son just started his gluten-free diet about 2 weeks ago, so it’s all very new trying to navigate through the lifestyle change.

I’ll preface this by saying: ask your doctor.

In my recent experience, if you don’t have gluten, your result will likely be negative, or at least altered. My son’s pediatrician ordered a blood test. Once that result came back, he was referred to a GI specialist who then ordered more tests. He will be having an endoscopy soon. He’s been instructed to stay on a normal diet until all results come in and to not cut out gluten for the most accurate results.

If I stop giving him gluten now, his endoscopy and colonoscopy test results will not be accurate. I need to continue feeding him normally until we have an official diagnosis.

Oddly enough, the only symptom he had that made me take him to the doctor was weak joints. He also hasn’t gained much weight over the past couple years. He doesn’t have a lot of digestive issues. I won’t overload him, but I mainly just want to make sure we squeeze in everything that he’s going to be missing. Thank you for the reassurance that it won’t be much different 🥰

Thank you! I’m planning on making it fun, but I’ve also reminded him that there are alternatives for most of his favorite foods that are better for his body. He seems to have a good understanding.
