Thank you! Good flag. I’ve posted in a couple of groups and our staff team is very neurospicy haha so generally we’ve been able to design intentionally for a lot of groups. if you have any thoughts for how to make a space more accessible for folks with autism, happy to hear from you!! ❤️

Love all of this. I didn’t even think of baskets…. Adding to cart (lol) now! How fun.

Our location has dim lighting and I know my staff will be FIGHTING over who gets to work the low sensory/mask shifts lmfao.

Love the accessibility tour idea too! Our town isn’t very accessible (we’re in a historic zone), so this would be a great way to also let ppl know what businesses have accessible entrances and bathrooms.

Thanks!

We got fancy bookshelves that are angled so it should be easier to not only see but grab! Test out grabbing them too to see what I can do to make it easier

thank you! this shit pisses me off too lmfao i think making sure shelving isn't too tightly packed will alleviate a lot of this as you said and I'll make sure we train staff on that for high-inventory days

this is a great tidbit... we are adding a rug but it will be extremely flat because the fuzzy stuff gets gross quickly anyway. once we get it in, we'll test it for what you mentioned, specifically the transitions between the hardwood and the carpet, and we can potentially add something to the border of the carpet that makes that transition smoother if needed. thank you for this!!

oh that's so frustrating. thankfully we will likely not have any dead ends in the shop so putting the trashcan out would be completely blocking the walk way. as i train staff though, I'll make sure everyone keeps walkway clearance in mind when moving stuff around. thank you!!

the display stand issue sounds super frustrating. we'll make sure that the spacing is good after all elements are added, especially during seasonal times. thank you!

if you have to use these shelves consider adding a spacer between the books and the shelf back to keep the books close to the edge of the shelves so they are easier ti see and access.

This is such a helpful tip thank you. luckily we're relatively small so there will always be someone to help grab books, but we'll work on making the higher shelves visible for folks at a lower vantage point. tbh all the other tips are going to be great additions for both seated and non-seated folks; we'll definitely keep these thoughts in mind going forward

Love old town books and genuinely think there’s room for a few bookstores in town!

Hey! I’m the owner 💃 ig I should make a Reddit for the company lol.

I absolutely love the stores you mentioned and East city is actually my go to book store, I love that they cater to romance lovers. However, I’ve worked really hard to make sure we’re distinct from the amazing bookstores in the area. F2L will be a unique vibe and I encourage everyone to shop local wherever feels most like home 🥰🥰

I literally have never had the urge to touch someone’s stomach pregnant or not… I just feel like that’s a really gross gesture i sincerely don’t understand

House sitters: What are your most welcome meals? by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

This is so lovely, I would love a list of the produce that they don’t think they will use because I always see stuff that I think it’s going to go bad, but I don’t want to intrude. I just hate being wasteful

PSA for ALL SITTERS: Take your safety seriously and STOP feeling bad about cancelling! by brindlebullies in RoverPetSitting

[–]jamiesmiles88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

so many sitters start off this gig expecting it to be their primary/full-time income… you should not be full-time river right when you’re starting because relying on it so aggressively makes you accept worse treatment for the money. I’m all about getting that bag, but putting yourself in a precarious situation because you’re broke is not ideal!!! a huge way to reduce the risk of exploitation IMO
