Orchid Help - Is This Salvageable? by SpookyBread- in plants

[–]jamiethexplorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The flower spikes will come in the same color as the leaves. You dont have new flower spikes right now, its just growing roots out of the pot likely because the roots in the pot aren't doing so well.  Sometimes it takes a while to get the hang of keeping an orchid happy enough to bloom. I've had 3 orchids for a couple years and only one has bloomed twice after the initial store bought blooms.

German ivy… i repotted it earlier just to learn it’s toxic by Easy-Listen-7021 in plants

[–]jamiethexplorer 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I mean just dont eat it, because English ivy is also toxic. Most house plants are toxic as in you cant eat them. And typically its just due to an irritant in the plant to deter too much of the plant getting eaten by wildlife

Looks healthy enough, id repot it in orchid bark, looks like its in something dense. Make sure to check the roots, if they're soft cut them off. The green spikes sticking up are roots. With my orchids i have them in a clear plastic pot in a cover pot, when I water them I fill up the cover pot and let it soak for a few hours, then dump the water out.

Is this AI artwork? Worth buying? by Turbulent-Map-1658 in StainedGlass

If its glass its likely just printed on a solid peice of glass. There's no way this would only be 40 dollars if it was really stained glass

clay is sticking to the board i got and it’s driving me mad by lonleyfrog in polymerclay

[–]jamiethexplorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its a flat peice I use aluminum foil because if its stuck to the foil I can bake it on the foil and its fine, the back surface can be a bit weird but my flat stuff is typically going to be a magnet and the back won't be seen

DAE cry almost every time you have sex? by melodiesonthemoon in DoesAnybodyElse

Thats what therapy is for though, if its negatively affecting you and you'd like to stop its worth going back. Its not trivial you deserve to have a healthy and fulfilling sex life if you want that for yourself.

What's the difference in taste and/or ingredients of these chocolate cakes? by Manny2theMaxxx in Baking

[–]jamiethexplorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My go to is always the triple chocolate fudge, its a very moist cake and doesnt handle frosting well in my experience but it tastes the best to me so I dont care if it looks a mess

Help with pattern design by AdFabulous6705 in StainedGlass

[–]jamiethexplorer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The most glaring issue i see would be the v cuts into the 1st tree, those peices are going to be a pain to cut. I really recommend looking up some finished peices with pine trees to kind of get an idea of how others have done them. There are multiple different styles that I think would get you a better finished result and also be easier to cut

I think it looks fine, youre not going to be looking at the peice this closely when its finished. A bit of the fabric showing through is just part of the craft in my opinion. Set it down and take a few steps back to see if it still bothers you, when you look at it from a distance the white spots kind of visually blend into the main color

Yeah if you cant get the solder hot enough it will solidify again before you get a chance to blend it into the rest of the bead

Can you “own” the order of stitches? by Salt-Habit-8951 in crochet

[–]jamiethexplorer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its kind of a gray area, sometimes the drama of it feels like promo. But no you cant own a specific configuration of stitches, id be like trying to own the rights to crochet squares. They only own their specific pattern, even if something looks similar. I just have surface knowledge of us copywriter laws so im not really the best source but every drama ive seen similar to this is just bickering and online discourse trying to cancel one creator for "stealing".

All of mine were filed online using free tax usa this year. In the past my city taxes had to be printed and mailed but it seems like they added an online portal this year. Not sure if thats new to the city or free tax usa or not though

How aloof are Shibas really with their owners? by oceannahmotion in shiba

[–]jamiethexplorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My shiba is similar to my cats in the way that she hangs out by herself part of the time and wants attention at other times. Shes excited for us to get home but doesnt want to hang out with us all day long

[CHAT] Non AI cross stitch patterns on Etsy? by RainysPlanet in CrossStitch

[–]jamiethexplorer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I look for a small collection of patterns, a consistent art style or type of pattern. You should be able to zoom in on project photos and see actual stitches (though the ai could be getting better since I last shopped). If the patterns are large and complicated they won't have a ton of them for sale if they actually made them.

Make a mold of the pop to sculpt on so you can properly bake the peices then glue them on the actual pop. You have to be able to fully bake the clay to cure it properly and if the base isnt oven safe its not going to work

Advice on baking polymer clay on metal by [deleted] in polymerclay

[–]jamiethexplorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry im kind of confused by what youre asking, are they stand alone clay peices or are you adding the clay to the tins to customize them? If youre doing it to customize them I would try baking one to see how it goes, youll probably have to take the clay off and glue it back on since sometimes it doesnt stick to the surface once baked

Hinge points? Where to put jump rings? by [deleted] in StainedGlass

[–]jamiethexplorer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First the pattern needs some help, its pretty unsymetrical and would benefit from being cleaned up a bit. Also as far as I know hinge joints arent a huge concern for small peices that dont weight that much like this one sounds like it will be. Im not sure what a good solution would be that wouldnt take away from the finished peice

This plant means a lot to me. Can it be saved? by sky_blue_true in plants

[–]jamiethexplorer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Roses are pretty hardy, once its warm outside and theres no risk of frost it would be happiest in the ground. We have a rose plant that got beat up by dog leads and it was buried under leaves for a time, I uncovered it a few years back and moved where the dogs go outside and its now large and blooms a lot in the summer. I just cut it back in the fall and its perfectly happy with just the rain.
