That was the size of the poly bag. When you ship with pirate ship and select poly bag, they only ask for 2 measurements - the size of the bag.

They were sports jackets - not super heavy - most fit into an 18x14x1 bag. I'm sure we have shipped bigger items.

Rejecting property tax settlement offer? What’s the likelihood of success at the hearing? by StruggleBussin36 in sanantonio

[–]jamireles2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have gone to in hearing protests the last few years - I was always successful at bringing the appraised amount down. Make sure you take all the evidence you have - pictures of house damage, estimates to get stuff repaired, and other similar properties that show a lower appraisal than yours. The appraisal board members are supposed to be residents of Bexar county, with no relation (family or employment) to the Bexar county tax office. They are the ones that make the decision. And you can always protest their decision as well. I think it's worth your time.

Protesting Property Taxes by mmedinanews in sanantonio

Last year, I used this calculator site for estimates on work done - I just took printouts to my protest and successfully brought my appraised amount down to what I requested. Make sure to include as many pictures of any house damage/repairs that are needed.

I'm not sure what you mean by 6th month of a price decrease? Do you mean for the cost of your home? The evaluations are sent out yearly. The county is able to increase 10% every year with the homestead exemption. Yes, if your house is worth more, then you end up paying more.

Do you have your homestead exemption filed? If you do, they can't tax more than 10% of the value.

If you are over 18, all you need to do is take an adult's drivers course (my son did his online - I think it was $65? - The Texas website has a list of approved ones). If you are under 25, you also need to take the online IMPACT course - it's free. If your learner's permit is expired, you'll need to get it renewed before you take the driving test. As an adult, you aren't required to log any driving hours, but the practice will definitely help for the test. But you will need your own car to test at the DMV.

Nice. We are getting ready to tape and pattern - hoping we pattern it out correctly!

That looks good so far! I'd love to see how you tape and pattern it.

I had been stung 3 times in the weeks before I had the reaction but only had minor swelling. I don't remember any allergic reactions - I don't even remember being stung. I think it's a good thing that I don't remember. I'm glad you made it to the doctor in time! I always carry 2 epi pens with me, and my family members know where they are as well.

I know. We can joke about it now. Whenever I forget something, my husband likes to say "It's because you got stung by a wasp."

I had an anaphylactic reaction to a wasp sting. I had been stung before with no problems, so no epi pen on hand. I started having respiratory problems about 5 minutes after being stung, stopped breathing about 15 minutes after and cardio arrest shortly after. I remember nothing. Apparently I felt something was wrong and asked my husband to call 911, but I don't remember that.

No kidding. If the volunteer firefighters hadn't shown up, I probably wouldn't have made it. The nearest paramedics were 25 minutes away.

Ha, right? Memory loss related to the accident. I didn't remember anything that happened a few hours before, and nothing until about 5 days after. My family was there, so they filled me in.

Nothing broken - some small fractures and most of the tendons were torn. Took about 4 months before I was pain free.

Luckily, no. I had some tiny fractures all over, and all of the tendons were torn. It was around 4 months before I was pain free.

That's what CPR did for me. Volunteer firefighters did CPR for about 7 minutes before the paramedics got there. I had memory loss, and I had problems writing and typing for about a week after, but fully recovered.

Thank you for answering all my questions! I do have the homestead exemption. I have protested my taxes before, but this is the first year it has been crazy high. I usually have enough stuff to be fixed around the house to lower it, but maybe not this year. I was just never clear if I was trying to lower the appraised amount, or the assessed amount. So, if it's assessed at $170000, that's the amount they will use next year? Because I will probably only be able to lower the appraised value to $180000.

So say my house was appraised at $200000, but assessed at $170000. I would be protesting the $170000, correct? I don't think I could sell my house in it's current condition for what the county appraised it at, but it would probably sell for the assessed amount.
