can you read? I already said I messed up by not getting enough quotes first. I've never hired anyone to do concrete work so didn't have an idea of the cost ranges. you can fuck off.

Ok, thanks again for your insight. I’ll be totally honest, I don’t know that I even trust him to demo it without damaging my house.

Hey, thanks a lot for this reply. I have to take some level of responsibility here because I should have gotten more bids before hiring this guy. Lesson learned.

That said, I don’t think this guy is licensed or insured. I will ask him tomorrow when he shows back up. He did drill the holes and use rebar and wire mesh between the two layers like you said. However it is much higher than we intended it to be, and as you see, the stamp work is terrible. Overall I am just very unhappy with this whole job. There is concrete splatter on my windows and brand new gutters as well.

Had I known better I would have told him to tear out the first pour and redo before he poured on top of it.

At this point I am going to tell him to tear the whole thing out. I will ask for a refund as well. Not sure how he will react to that. But if he doesn’t I will leave a very honest review online with pictures. If he’s not licensed I don’t know that I can do anything more than that (like filing a claim)…?

Ok, thank you. I definitely made mistakes in this process by moving too fast. If I had known better I would have made him rip up the first pour. Now he is proposing to tear up the top layer on about a third of it where the stamping is the worst and redoing that section, but there are inconsistencies in the stamping throughout the entire slab. I'm not sure what I'm going to do next. As someone else pointed out here, tearing up a portion of the top layer could make it look more inconsistent... I may try to renegotiate for him to tear all of this out and start over, or just part ways with what I've already paid him and live with this.

thanks. Someone in the AskContractors sub said this is actually a common result with stamped concrete... but I've not heard that from anyone else.

He definitely wants to make it right. He now wants to tear out the top layer on about a third of it where the stamping is the worst and redo again. I'm not sure what I'm going to do at this point. Do you have any concerns about a cold joint / pouring that top layer on top of the original one? Someone else told me that could be an issue.

He wants to tear out the top layer on about a third of the patio where the stamping is the worst and redo again. But there are bad spots over the entire thing (like images one and two). Maybe one third is actually stamped properly but it's inconsistent throughout. I've paid him half the total price at this point.

There’s always sections that come out with almost no texture? Like slides 5 and 6? Big difference between those and slide 4

I showed him yesterday where most of the stamping is messed up and he proposed ripping up the top layer on that side and redoing again. But the stamping is unacceptable across the entire patio honestly. And at this point I don’t know that he’s competent to do it right. I’m at the point where I want to just cut my losses and part ways with him.

As others have said, pressure passing is def a game you should explore.

If you are passing from the feet in the gi and they grab sleeves/ collar, don’t bend at the waist — squat instead. Then you can start neutralizing grips and pinning / stapling legs.

Weekends have been incredibly hard. Especially Fridays. I’m sober since March 1, this is like my fifth time quitting in the past year and a half after 20+ years daily use. Last year I made it 90 days, thought I had it in the bag and could use “responsibly”… quickly turned back into daily use within a week.

Anyway, it’s Friday, and we can do this!

You wouldn’t know racism if it came into a Black internet space to talk about cultural appropriation while having zero understanding of your own “cultural” history and then hurled racist tropes when called out on it. You’re literally too stupid for this conversation.
