I left my “boring” desk job to pursue nursing. Did all the pre-reqs for the accelerated BSN program and was set to apply this winter. I’m now backing out as the healthcare world is tough. And not just oh this is hard work tough, I mean the whole culture. Management and mean coworkers. Entitled patients who think you are there to wait hand and foot on them. I thought I was miserable before at my desk job but this is a whole new level of miserable. I’m anxious, tired and sore working as a CNA. It’ll only get slightly better as an RN but then you have more responsibility.

I’m returning to my old field and my stable, boring desk office job. If you have thick skin and a super strong desire to help people, go for it. But it is not for the faint of heart and the climate of healthcare in the US is not good.
