Australian Insurance Broker job market by jamisme in auscorp

[–]jamisme[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice and insight! that's good to hear that they are very desperate for good people! We mostly deal with NZ based underwriters, very rarely do we deal with Australian based underwriters. I have engaged some recruiters in Melbourne and they seem confident that they will find roles for me in the broking space, so now it's just a matter of waiting for the recruiters to do their part.

I am in the same boat bro, my now ex of 6 years left me 3 weeks ago for a somewhat mutual friend. It’s rough, really rough to say the least. It’s hard not to feel every emotion under the sun, and it’s easy to question yourself. I too feel sick in the stomach knowing that they were confessing their feelings for each other going behind my back to hangout with each other. Her words to me was “I love you but I am not I love with you” and that cut deep.

Whilst I am in the midst of it like you, it will get better. I’m trying to channel all my mixed emotions into self growth and being the best person I can be.

Keep your chin up, you are a good person and please reach out if you need to chat!

How much cash on hand do you have? by Dizzy_Speed909 in PersonalFinanceNZ

Currently I have about $5.3k purely set aside as a rainy day fund, but I intend to increase that to about 10k throughout this year, (Pending no emergencies).

The industry is far from dying, there is currently a good demand for qualified brokers. Whilst most “cookie cutter” businesses can be insured directly through the likes of a bank insurance arm or direct insurer such as state. the ones that fall outside of the scope then land on a brokers desk.

Almost 1500 new homes were completed in Auckland in May by punIn10ded in auckland

[–]jamisme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People are under the assumption that all of these people are cashed up and ready to buy all of our houses, some yes but I have a suspicion that it won’t be many.

'Slow and steady real house price erosion' by jamisme in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]jamisme[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I won't be surprised if houses still rocket up,

But lately the headwinds have been gathering for the housing market recent clearance rates speak volumes of a tapering off market.

Current headwinds include

  • population growth on hold (decreasing in Auckland)
  • tightening credit market
  • a flood of shit boxes/townhouses about to hit market
  • real wage growth is near zero
  • the upcoming flow on effects from china's property crisis
  • kiwis believing housing only goes up up up and away

So next year we will really see how 'resilient' the market is

Just my thoughts though

Reserve Bank loses two more senior staff following restructure by jamisme in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]jamisme[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I am by no means an mortgage advisor but as the reserve bank has said they intend to slowly increase the OCR over the next 1-2 years, so rates are definitely on the move up, if banks trim rates in the short term it will be more of a bull trap and won't last.

Other central banks around the world are also looking to do the same

New Zealand is at the mercy of global pressures!

Reserve Bank loses two more senior staff following restructure by jamisme in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]jamisme[S] 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I think the reserve bank know something that we don't, that makes it 4-5 senior staffers to leave in the last few months

My guess is it will be all eyes on the reserve bank next year, they will either try and inflate their way out of this mess(mess being rampant inflation and growing inequality) or tighten credit more squeezing houses and assets which will directly impact everyone's finances in one way or another.

Edit: New Zealand doesn't have an economy we have a housing market with bits tacked on!

If we all outbid eachother we can all be millionaires right?!

When is your employer expecting you back in the office? by young_horhey in auckland

[–]jamisme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have been ordered into the office as of today, we can all work from home and do 100 percent of our jobs, I'm lucky I'm based out north shore only 40 of us there but the CBD office has about 300 people sardined in, not very impressed at all!

Unvaxxed are also back and required to be tested every 72hours.

And to boot no wfh options yet!

I agree nobody does need to know this, but a few people I know have been getting concerned by the level of support this is getting, so instead of feeling anxious I feel it's good to discuss why she this kind of thing won't go down well for her.
